Chances are it wont be, but I never got to try FF14 so I'm still hoping for a new FF MMO for consoles

I'm not sure what to say here. On the one hand, FF14 was such a huge deviation from FF11, which was bad in many respects. On the other hand I have a little glimmer of faith that SE will pull their shit together and deliver a great product again. Cautious optimism?

Maybe they will let one of their Western devs take a crack at the UI and battle elements while they themselves take care of the world, story etc.
For their sake I hope its a huge success but I can't say that I'm too optimistic after the the flop that was 14.

For a company as big as SE, you don't have just one single development team. This title could be the result of a studio that has nothing to do with those who planned FF14 so I dont see why it should be destined to fail already.
Doubt it's another FF title because it wouldnt make much sense. I think Dragon Quest maybe.

What does this mean exactly? Maybe culturally within Japan this is true. I still doubt it that in 2011 more Japanese people have a console than a PC. But definitely, internationally, if the game wasn't shit and limited to PC, they would do just fine. But to say they are the minority to them is like saying they purposefully aim their efforts at a smaller user base, which sounds like the opposite of good business to me. FFXI-2 please. I mean I doubt it but it would be very nice. I think that we should know more in the next 3 months if they do infact have plans on giving us information. Oh also don't rule out a possible Dragon Quest mmo.

If it's not done by SE Japan, it's gonna be shit (overexaggeration ofc, more like a financial failure).
In a western "Rift" way of course.
Although some Japanese 3rd party dev might be making it too. I'd figure sub games could do as well in JP as they do in korea...
Anyway, the risk is much smaller if SEJ is working on it. They gained quite a bit of experience half a year ago, experience they can use to their advantage this time much better than Yoshida can.
What is FFXII team working on right now?
