Didn't Nintendo's share price drop after the WiiU reveal? Lol
Nintendo is, in my opinon, now the Apple of the console world. That comes with a lot of bad and a lot of good.
The WiiU is, right now, totally unimpressive. That may change in a years time. Right now, however, both Sony and Microsoft have amazing looking games which are fun to play that have came out, are coming out now, or will be out in the near future. Developers will also continue to get more and more out of both systems as time passes.

I know this means very little since it happens w/ any big reveal, but still amusing none-the-less. It's still a large dip and whats most significant, to me, is how much trading went on.
Yesterday's announcement of the Wii U was an exciting time for Nintendo and its fans. Unfortunately for the company, its investors didn't share in that enthusiasm.
According to Bloomberg, Nintendo's stock took quite the hit following the Wii U's announcement at this year's E3, falling 5.7%. At 16,930 Yen per share, this is a five year low for Nintendo's stock. Additionally, "more than 2.2 million shares changed hands, compared with a six-month daily average of about 720,000."
Bloomberg cites Yusuke Tsunoda, an industry analyst in Japan, as stating that "there were high expectations from the new version of the Wii and this fell far short. People had expected to see something more at a big event like... E3, but there wasn't really anything more than what's already reported."
Just realized Wii backwards compatibility is pretty lame since the only Wii games i still play use GC controllers ><. Why Nintendo, must you keep trying random stuff and hope it works?
The controller doesn't have an HD screen, and the kind of games they were already talking about and "concept games" they have playable are hardly things that require HD. The Wii-u should just be labelled the name of the controller rather than the console, become a peripheral for both the Wii and their next console, and then they should take Reggie's "It's just a box" and beef the fuck out of it and give it a proper controller option (even if they still push the Wii u).
Even with the new controller being their primary focus, I'm kind of baffled at how they didn't realize having a comfortable controller matters just as much as having the power to run current-gen multi-platform games. Doesn't matter how pretty shit looks, if it doesn't comfortable to play, it isn't going to be enjoyable to play, and people will go somewhere else to "have that experience".
I was totally behind the idea of a new Nintendo, and it may just be nostalgia, but I started on an NES and that's what I was hoping they'd be returning to, an NES. Ever since they lost touch in the post-SNES gaming era I've kind of secretly hoped they'd make a come back, but damn, way to waste an opportunity.
And it's not like this is even possible, because as far as I've seen, only one of them can be connected to the machine at once while everyone else needs to use controllers. At the very most I'd expect maybe two, considering the game is going to need to be streamed to it.
Motion control allowed everybody to play together, to interact, this is just going to have one person in the group looking at a tablet while everyone else does the exact same thing they could do on the Wii. It's not like any of those shovelware games require HD, nor even that they'd make them much more attractive. This seriously belongs as a nifty peripheral being added onto the Wii, something to combat Kinect and Move and help flagging sales, not the flagship of a new console that doesn't run specs any higher than the competition, while being less comfortable to even play what multi-platform games do show up.
Besides, couldn't Sony potentially just turn around and say "Hey, the Vita can do the exact same thing with the PS3", and any titles coming to Wii-u that do use it, do the exact same thing using Vita? I could be wrong, but I don't see why it wouldn't be able to.
I do like rear touchan, waiting in line to play uncharted 3.
MP IC.
The wii remote is far from comfortable for gaming, still sold a ton.
For me the Classic Pro is what I use whenever the games allow for it. I know there is hate out there for it, but I absolutely hate the button/dpad placement on the Wiimote for most games I am interested in. For casual, motion/gesture heavy games they make more sense. If the Wii U has more 'grown up' games, I hope that the controller is comfortable because I just don't like the Wiimotes, and I have to think I am not alone. Darksiders 2 with a Wiimote? With an uncomfortable Wii U Tablet of Hugemote? Eww.
