So McG is essentially just fighting to make a world where he can bang kids. That's definitely some plot.

In a development that surprises no one, Gjallarhorn fights itself while Tekkadan fights the real threat.
Just curious since I haven't gotten thru all the old Gundam series yet - does this particular type of automated MA show up? Closest thing I can think of to it (in terms of size and w/ satellite MAs) would be Char's mecha in Unicorn.
Gundam AGE had an AI controlled MA, named SID, that went berserk when it was encountered by everyone. In that series it was guarding all the old tech from the EXA-DB so this thing wouldn't surprise me if it was the same way. With the beam cannon being a thing now since that was lost tech for IBO.
Gundam X had the X Gundam's Bits -- they weren't automated, but they were an army of mobile suits controlled by a single newtype.
Psycho Gundam was the first giant thing I remember, there might have been a mobile armour in 08th ms team (both piloted though iirc) and maybe one in Turn A Gundam? I don't remember Turn A well even though it's one of the best. Guess it's time to rewatch it.
Gundam 00 probably had some MA looking fucks too.
