Complete newbie to gundam kits here. Any recommendations on where I should start? D:

also sanding sponge good for beginner.
GMs and grunt units are the best kits to start out with. Minimal stickers and decals etc
He might as well pick up some AGE Federation HGs; they're going to probably be perpetually cheap since lolAGE and all.. i'm not surprised some places still have their original shipments of some AGE stuff.
And yeah, get sanding paper and sanding sponges/pads of multiple grits (150 is the absolute lowest you should go, you're not working with resin here).
How cheap should I expect those AGE Federation HGs to be?
Also do I want to start with basic stuff like this to practice on?

I'd actually recommend your first kit be something you like -- whether it's a particular design or from a series your especially enjoyed.
Beyond that, get a reasonable pair of cutters, a knife, sanding paper, and that's probably all you'd need to start.
Holy shit do not buy that ye olde GM.
Get this one instead

I own it and I had fun building it. Literally 2 runners and 1 set of polycaps make for a quick and simple build.
Ok ok. Like I said, totally new to this. I'll keep that one in mind.
What about something like this?

Also is amazon the best place to get these or is there somewhere else I should be looking.
You need the guide

Avoid advance and first grade kits. Those are basically toys with no articulation and for little kids venture into gunpla.
Exactly what I needed, thank you!
So after looking at the guide and heeding the suggestion about starting on a unit I actually like, is this a legit one?

also sanding sponge easier.
i honestly don't use a knife. i just use cutters and sandpaper. then liquid cement and sanding again.

If you decide to really get into it these are a must. Put in an order and hope you don't have to wait six months like I did.
Any suggestions for some fine point markers? The ones I got aren't quite fine enough for panel linings D:
i noticed that they also sell water slide decals for real grades instead of the decals that come with it.
pros/cons?
Pros: They're not stickers. The quality of official Bandai decals is top-notch. With decal softener and setter solutions it's possible to make them appear painted on, when done properly. They're adjustable for a period of time, if you need to adjust placement and positioning. You won't have to deal with shitty adhesive residue ruining your paintjob.
Cons: They're delicate. You'll be cutting them out individually and placing them in warm water individually with a pair of tweezers. You'll probably have to develop skills and knowledge about how to fix bubbling or any other aesthetically displeasing minor issues that might crop up due to trapped air/water bubbles.
Does anyone know if the RG Astrea parts will be a full kit or interchangeable with the RG Exia? Got the Exia in thursday but I may hold off building it if it's not the latter.
