Why is the Captain dying even important? She was introduced as useless by her superiors, did literally ONE thing that was captain like so far in the entirety of this arc, and barely matters in the scheme of things since Flit one-ups her through sheer charisma and fear even when he held no official rank anymore.

And I expected the Fram thing when I saw her mobile suit and who it resembles. Like Gundam tends to not be the most cryptic of animes but even that was super obvious.

I didn't think SEED's captains could be topped in terms of terrible, but Anus manages to take it by actually dying. rofl

    Atleast it's finally over, gentlemen.

Edit: This should be played over the remaining episodes:

Eh, AGE was alright. Gundam was always targeted towards children/younger audience and AGE was no less different, besides the art style and views. Each his own I guess.

Big, terrible images of this excellent series inside:
    Spoiler: show

    >Fram self-destructs her own machine (Urine II dead).
    >Kills Obright, presumably Jonathan (Seric too I guess?)
    >Cripples/destroys the Diva (Anus gets blown up).

This is the event that forces Flitler to have an epiphany. Yeah, Yakety Sax all the fucking way. rofl

Not always children (probably more true of UC... and I guess maybe 00).

But this series man, I don't even know. I thought SEED was as bad as things were going to get; 00 made me feel alot better after years of that Morosawa/Fukuda shit.

Then this series happens, and it just goes downhill outside of some parts of Asemu's arc; the characters are pretty shitty too (especially the female cast, what the fuck were they thinking, that boys would be turned off by a compitent woman?).

I enjoyed AGE till the 3rd arc. It's really a combination of bad writing in Kio's arc, terrible villain motive, and overall just trying to compare to how Asemu's arc was. Asemu's arc felt more like a traditional Gundam motif, young pilots with parent issues are a staple, Desil fit the "crazy motherfucker who wants everyone dead" role well and Zeheart at that point was fleshed out well to fill the role of masked rival. They just really dropped the ball from there somehow.

Asemu's arc was the best part. Whoever was writing during that arc knew their shit. Once Kio went to the vagan 'homeworld'. It just fell apart. He stopped being the killing machine I was hoping he would become.

You know, i'm just as eager for changes in the usual fare for Gundam. But when you attempt to do so, maybe actually try writing a fucking coherent plot. Or try not negating a whole arc of character development by having the Not-Char just devolve into a hubris-filled Martian zealottard, or even just developing your multi-generational cast well (beyond that one dimensional shit, while not putting in dumb shit like Fardain, and far less of high school, and Girard Spriggan fillers) could help. I think between all of this stuff, and wasting afew good songs, AGE has so much of my hate.

(really at both of you, but yeah)

I doubt any of the three of us went into AGE actually expecting it to be great. I thought it might be better than SEED, if nothing else. But fuck; Hino's writing is just so goddamn retarded. I honestly felt like Morosawa was writing this shit outside of most of Asemu's arc. It's unbelievable how they managed to pull multiple Kubos (just totally forgetting characters, or development for Zehart especially). Frankly, I don't even know what I expected of Kio anymore; understanding wasn't going to work because it would just be lazily shoehorned in (as it was: see Flitler's epiphany). Genocide end was basicly all we got presented with as logically viable (Vagians haven't done fuckall to redeem themselves besides moebland Lu).

What will AGE's legacy be? Revolving door of filler characters who largely did absolutely nothing relevant to the plot (while occupying substantial time)? Having the worst cast of female characters in Gundam? Trying an ambitious concept for the show, and just totally failing to live up to what it could have been (honestly, the same thing could be said for SEED; could have been good or maybe great)? Another thing to throw in here: Kio (or AGE I guess) killed UNDERSTANDING. Or perhaps that Yurin and Girard (among afew others) were plot devices that maybe didn't really pan out that well beyond Yurin (again, probably the Hino writing).

Bandai Entertainment to Discontinue Home Video, Manga, Novel Sales (Updated)
Bandai Entertainment, the subsidiary of Namco Bandai Holdings (USA) that handles anime and manga in North America, announced on Friday that the company will discontinue sales of its Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, manga, and novels. The company noted that it will make its final shipment of manga and novels to retailers by the end of October. Additionally, the company will make its final shipment of home video products to wholesale customers on November 30.

Bandai Entertainment had announced in January that it would stop offering new DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and manga releases in February. Since February, the company had continued to produce and distribute its existing catalog lineup, but it no longer produced and distributed new releases.

Bandai Entertainment had closed its own online store last December.

Update: The Robert's Corner Anime Store retailer noted in its weekly newsletter on Friday that Bandai Entertainment contacted the retailer to announce that it will be "discontinuing its home video publishing and distribution business effective March 1, 2013." Bandai Entertainment also added that the last day it will accept purchase orders is November 15.

Wasn't going to happen through Bandai Ent. anyway; they basicly ceased to exist last December, remember?

Pretty much everything is going to come directly from Japan now, I guess.

Yeah, AGE was pretty damn terrible as far as Gundam shows go. 4/10. By comparison I'd give SEED 7/10 and Wing/00 a 10/10.

They really dropped the ball on Kio's arc. They tried to add way too much content and totally messed up at least 6 episodes with them being complete filler crap. When I mean filler, they added too much bullshit that had nothing to do with advancing the main story points. You can tell they obviously copy pasted a ton of other Gundam content and tried to make it work over a "100 year generation" plot. Sad thing too, I have more feelings for Flit (and wanting him to just die in general) over Kio and his fraudulent Kira Yamato-esque mannerisms.

That being said, Flit is probably the most well planned out character in all of AGE, easy. He really conveys true human emotion that can be extreme and radical when bitter feelings and hate is involved.

Finished watching 00, why is every Relena character except Relena fucking useless?

Relena wasn't useless? I mean i'm not gonna pretend Marina was useful for anything but Relena was so bad in her own right. Women shouting pacifism is so boring and cliche and it generally never ends well in Gundam. Some of the more effective females in Gundam tend to be the ones who took an offensive role while using the downtime to sort through their personal problems when it came up. Sayla, Emma, Fa, Marvet, Haman, etc. Pretty much non-UC or CC females tend to be useless or there for fanservice. Exception being Allenby and probably Tiffa from Gundam X.

Sort of stale gender roles or whatever? Marina is pretty much on the same level of Relena, perhaps alittle more useful/compitent (moreso S1 than S2, prior to the whole flawed unification and isolation of the few non-Federation nations).

But really, after AGE, I don't think any AU series has handled females as poorly as AGE did.

And Cleverness is right; Tiffa and Allenby are probably the two most compitent female characters AU-wise. Although I would amend that to include Lucrezia Noin from Wing (maybe Lady Une too), and definitely Sochie Heim from Turn-A (I know he mentioned Correct Century). Hell, while we're on the subject of Turn-A; Lily Borjarno, Diana and Kihel, and I guess Teteth (maybe Poe too once she stops derping). See below for Sochie:

It really wasn't until High School Musical Twilight Gundam SEED when shit really went off the tracks. They could have maybe made the female captains abit less terribad with tit bouncing, and more compitent (with tit bouncing).

Yea I mentioned CC meaning Turn A since the females there are actually important to the plot, although that's probably because Turn A from its conception was designed to focus more on story and personal development over MS combat which is why it's awesome. And Marina was mostly useless in S2, she was abit more important in S1 but due to the presence of the A-Laws and every non-member nation being seen as expendable in S2 she was pretty much regulated to getting kidnapped and rescued, and then babysitting.

And seriously fuck that song, if I want a robot show where the power of song matters I watch Robotech/Macross, not Gundam. Fuck whoever in Sunrise thought that was a good idea. Marina is no Minmay.

Now I need to watch Turn-A again. Sochie Heim is a total boss.
