Hathaway's Flash is definitely doable in an OVA (3-4 episodes).

No way they could do Crossbone (nor should they, it needs a TV series) as an OVA. Especially since they need to set that shit up right with F90 and F91 (plus Silhouette Formula; could roll it into F91 I guess since the Federation's only assets at Side 4 are basicly what's left at the end of F91 aside from Anaheim's Silhouette Project unit).

    All of my (our?) hate.

An aside, it doesn't look like captain Anus has much of a fanbase anywhere in the world; her death in the game was either met with fanfare or indifference. Since she gets taken out by Fram and all, it'll be amusing to see how /m/ reacts to the TV death.

That thing looked alot more menacing the previous episode. Doesn't seem to be designed for 1v1 fights but glaring weaknesses like that seem like a terrible design issue. Like giving the FAZZ no beam sabers.

    And I still don't understand how AGE-FX Full Burst mode works, is he just a porcupine of beam sabers that also block incoming attacks now? Reminds me of Giga Drill Maximum from Gurren Lagann honestly. And unrelated;

    Space Lemon is suffering.

Honestly, do we really care about anything related to Kio anymore? lol For all that, the little retard autist again did nothing; glorified UNDERSTANDING shield or something at best. Or perhaps it triggered Seric's death flag.

So, some friends and I really want to get into Gundam, we've seen Wing and G only, which doesn't seem like it's the best representation. What series would you guys recommend we try to watch? Get into the very first series or what?

If you want to get into the long trek that is Universal Century Gundam, start with the original Gundam compilation movies(there are 3 of them, quicker than rewatching the dated series), watch Zeta(the series not the movies), ask for cliffnote versions of ZZ unless you have a lot of free time and feel like hating yourself for the first 20 episodes and enjoying the rest of the episodes, then watch Chars Counterattack. That pretty much catches you up for Gundam Unicorn which is ongoing OVA taking place after CCA. It's also enough to watch Turn A since you've seen Wing/G already. You can technically watch Turn A by itself but it's abit better after watching the stuff listed above considering 1 of the major plot points in the series. Victory Gundam is also UC but it's so far into the future that none of these events really play a role in the anime, could have been standalone and noone would notice the difference. I personally like it though, even though 90% of the cast dies, some in the very episode they are introduced or speak their first lines.

If you just want decent standalone stuff, Gundam X is really good and came out close to Wing although they rushed the ending, Gundam 00 is REALLY good and the latest complete Gundam series(AGE has like 2 episodes left), 1st Season is amazing and the 2nd Season is good minus a few dumb things there and there and finding the dub episodes for this is actually really easy on sites like Youtube. Gundam SEED is fine, has highs and lows, but it ends pretty decently considering the hackjob that was SEED Destiny(dont ever watch it). AGE is the other current series running and has 2 episodes left and it's good up until like...episode 36ish? It starts off well but the writers dropped the ball, you should just watch it later on once you've watched a few other series.

After 0079 watch 08th MS Team, Gundam 0080, and Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory before Zeta Gundam. Also check out F91 movie after CCA. It's not that great, but worth watching at least once.

Assuming you want to go chronological order:

One Year War: 0079 (First Gundam; TV series and movies are ideal I guess, but if you don't like dated animation.. movies), 08th MS Team, and 0080: War in the Pocket. MS IGLOO can go here too if you can find a decent sub (or the official releases for not-100 dollars per volume); i'd consider the first one better than the second.

    Post-OYW: 0083: Stardust Memory.

    Gryps Conflict: Zeta (0086-0087).

First Neo-Zeon War: ZZ (0087-0088 ), no official release outside of Japan (yet).

    Second Neo-Zeon War: Char's Counterattack (0093).

Third Neo-Zeon War/Laplace's Box Conflict: Unicorn (0096), ongoing and won't be done until 2014.

Establishment of Cosmo Babylonia/the First Crossbone Vanguard: F91 (0123), was originally meant to be a TV series but then stuff happened and we got this cruel joke that might actually get redone in afew years (see prior posts as to why/look through my post history I guess).

    Zanscare War: Victory (0153).

As Cleverness said, basicly the AU stuff stands on it's own (you wouldn't really lose much other than noticing some homages, like the Char Kick, or Final Shooting pose). You pretty much can't go wrong with the AU stuff, outside of SEED (prepare for so much SAMEFACE) and AGE. If I had to recommend two though, it would be 00 and Turn-A (the latter hasn't had an official release outside of Japan though).

The Universal Century is so fucking massive, you'll basicly have 33 years of animated works, manga side-stories, and probably alot of MS-related stuff you'll probably want to read about (Gundam Wiki is ok I guess, some real fucking retards editing though; i'd probably go with MAHQ for "accuracy").

TL;DR is that the Burst Mode lets the little retard attack quickly with his shitfunnels and move quickly too, at the cost of accuracy (which is amusing given that they seemingly forget this part about accuracy moments later..). And not-Wings of Light out of many orifices to be a better Titus or something.

I guess it's not super surprising that they kind of just forget about the whole accuracy stipulation, they fucking forgot most of the cast as it is. rofl

Is there something that's kept ZZ from seeing a release outside Japan?

No interest if I had to guess. Jew dough's dub va in the dwg games is good enough if they ever do dub it.

By the time Bandai Entertainment would have been able to do a dubbing (post-00), they already were working on Turn-A.

And then we all know what happened.

ZZ will come, eventually. It'll likely be a sub however, as will Turn-A; they're basicly just going to distribute in North America directly from Japan I guess (like they're doing now with the Unicorn BDs).

Then again, they seem very happy with the work NYAV Post is doing on the Unicorn dub (and the English dubbing staff is working directly with Sunrise, people come over from Japan and Mark Simmons flies in from San Francisco). So maybe this will be how they conduct all future dubbing for Gundam atleast if they choose to do one.

AGE probably won't get another English dubbing, the one for Southeast Asia/Oceania was decent from what i've seen (we're not talking Malaysia DBZ-tier) with Australian/Canadian VAs. Considering how poorly it has done, doubt they would invest in another dubbing for it.

It's not the most popular UC series, I mean it beats out Victory but the first several episodes are cancer inducing almost. It gets alot better and has some awesome mecha designs(Zaku 3 + Bawoo and a host of other upgrades from familiar designs) and it gets alot better when they land on Earth. Like Edel said it'll at least get a sub treatment sometime in the future along with Turn A and hopefully Gundam X + Victory.

Really, the only impediment to getting ZZ/Turn-A/Victory/X in North America is probably the determination of if they're going to bring AGE over here in the next year or so. If not, don't be terribly surprised if we're getting news of Turn-A or ZZ by late next summer (ballpark). Otherwise I suspect those series would get pushed back further down the road.

Now, if they were talking English dubbed releases.. that I would probably be relatively surprised by (moreso X, than the others I guess).

The first IGLOO was released in the US; just under that fucking Bandai Visual USA banner. It was way overpriced for what was something like 6 episodes divided between two DVDs. If I remember correctly from what it was on Amazon back then, you were looking at spending around 130 bucks for those 6 episodes. Essentially, fuck Bandai Visual USA (they were just awful).

They got absorbed into Bandai Entetainment back in 2008.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/AnimeChannel

This is an official(to my knowledge) channel that has all of Gundam 00, Wing, Zeta, and the original Gundam dubbed if you are ok with dubs. Honestly you can start here, if you want a decent entry into Gundam then 00 is a good choice, and from there you can delve into the gigantic amount of Universal Century Gundam as listed before.
