    Spoiler: show
Seriously wtf at that ending. It took losing her ship and love interest in the middle of a GIANT final battle for this captain to grow some balls? I expected the last episode to suck since they were trying to cram everything in but this is still ridiculous. And Flitler gets a statue after NOT nuking the Vagan colony, so brave. And how did they give Kio that new bazooka? The AGE-Builder was destroyed on the Diva, and I didn't thinl Asemu kept a spare on his ship.

7/10 series. Would be 8 or 9 if they had better writing and not been in space all the fucking time.

I'm like 6-7/10 on it. The first arc was a pretty slow start but after abit I grew to like it, it ended very well. Second arc was a lot better and helped to humanize Vagan abit through Zeheart and Asemu's friendship. I think if the Kio revelation came near the end of his arc during the last battle it might have actually turned out better. Both Flit and Asemu had their lifechanging moment in the final battle of their arc. It carried over into their actions in the next stage but it wouldn't have been the case with Kio, he could have had his life changing experience there, the ending could have mostly stayed the same and Flit could have died to avoid him committing mass genocide against a race he hates.

I'm just really tired of the pacifism shit in Gundam. It worked fine in Turn A cause that was actually really well written, but taking Kira and turning him up to the extreme is a terrible idea. Even with 00 Gundam wanting to unite people to stop fighting and evolve them, they went about it through terrorism and realized some sacrifices(including their own) would have to be made to accomplish it.

I think that's alittle generous; it's pretty fucking mediocre. The only thing it had going for it was the lack of SAMEFACE and not abusing stock footage. I guess i'd give it a 5.5/10 at best; 4.5/10 at worst. The writing in this series is just awful (not Morosawa awful though), however the cast might actually be alittle worst than SEED's (alot of dumb shit secondaries and loose ends with people just dissappearing). It's bottom-tier for sure, but I guess it's the cream of that bottom-tier.

I wouldn't be sad if this just faded into memory. Bring on Crossbone please (or a good AU series). Rest assured though, we'll have something new to complain about in the retcons to Destiny's HD remaster, soon enough (pretty sure this is a thing, no reason to have this SEED event party otherwise).

Also, the thing that gets me about the second arc is how they basicly annihilated the development for Zeheart in the following arcs. And the so fucking forced marriage with Romary's lusting for Zeheart and all. In fact, this might be one of the worst parts of AGE; the relationships just being so shitty and forced. At least we could have had some marital strife or something with Flit. Instead, all the women did was shoot out the next protagonist and fade right back into the woodwork.

I'm just mad we got no Arisa in gen 3. Silver medals win in AGE. Not Gold medals.

I'm mad we don't even fucking see what happened to her (she's living alone, crying herself to sleep every night, over the relationship and babies she never had with SUPER PILOT).

    Spoiler: show
Also she dies alone at the end of the series.

Overall, Arisa is just another example of some really shitty writing on Hino's part. Alot of these people would have been far better fits as spouses (it'd be like Amuro still ending up with Frau); or at the very least should make some kind of appearance later on (especially someone a lead was close to). Millais could show up and slap the shit out of Anus for being terrible and ruining her ship. Or teach her how to fucking keep the colors inside the lines. Instead, Seric had to take care of reassuring her derpy ass. It's really dissappointing with how poorly many characters were used. And that really doesn't even address the totally unneccesary characters like Girard and Zera; the time wasted on them could have gone to existing characters getting some development and building any reason for us to fucking care.

Flit wins. Ironically, his ending (and character development) was still the best written in the series. Like a Pseudo Darth Vader ending.

Rewatched the first episode right after. Shook my head at such lost potential. 4/10.

So now that shit AGE is over, all we have to look forward to in terms of animation are the rest of the Unicorn OVAs and this Origin shit? I am so not exciting for Origin at all, if I see the RX-78-2 one more fucking time in another context I swear to Christ.

You also have the SEED Destiny HD remaster soon to look forw... well, it's happening, we're all pretty sure.

Considering how badly AGE failed (see: it falling incredibly short of Hino's promised million sales of the AGE games), I wouldn't be too surprised to see the series that follows the Origin to be Crossbone or Crossbone plus the F90 and F91 stories (we would be talking Fall 2014 or something at the earliest though, here). They know the fanbase wants it, and Unicorn (and Hathaway's Flash) set the stage for the 2nd century; so perhaps animating F90 and redoing F91 as a proper TV series would make Crossbone only that much better.

But we'll see, I truthfully can't say i'd be too shocked if they end up greenlighting a new (not-remaster) CE production either; shitty Morosawa writing and Hiraiface aside, SEED does print money. Maybe it'll finally get that movie (or an OVA) if they aren't willing to put Crossbone aside (they won't run two new TV series at once).

I really, really liked SEED. Didn't even get through the first 15 episodes of Destiny, and there are definitely big problems with SEED (mostly the faces, honestly), but I absolutely love the mecha designs and I think it had some great moments.

I am working on a MG set of the original units - just finished up my Blitz (fuckin' love it) and have a Strike E + IWSP that I'll use for the Strike. The Buster looks fucking awesome. The Duel looks aight too. Aegis I'm not as sure about - I don't really like the design as much, but I think its mobile armor form is cool.

I wish they could write more solid OVAs like 0080, 0083, 08th MS Team, etc. Maybe not even UC. Actually, come to think of it, Stargazer was pretty awesome.

Problem is, UC and CE are probably the only universes where an OVA wouldn't be totally arbitrary or unecessary. The others, except for Wing and 00 have all largely wrapped up everything, or don't have enough side material for more than a 1-2 episode OVA at best (I suppose X might have some Space War stuff, but being the black sheep of the 90s, unlikely).

If 00 were to see any more productions, it'd likely be the Solar Wars or maybe the Fereshte side-story from 00F. Wing's Frozen Teardrop is probably guaranteed to be a 25-episode series at minimum (or a 6-7 episode OVA like Unicorn, possibly with the same story compression issues in the middle..).

If the CE were to see a new animated work, it would probably be better served if they don't bring Fukuda or Morosawa back yet again; they are not very good at what they do. At this point, Muv-Luv: Tortilla Chips' staff would do a better job on a 3rd entry with the Xbox-sized budgets the SEEDs had. I don't know how much of an appetite there would be for Astray; I don't think the animated CE needs another pink haired idol.. but whatever, that's a place i'd care not to tread.

I'd love to see the Astray manga series animated. Lots and lots of material in there, and even more sweet mecha designs.

I suppose so, but again, keep Fukuda and Morosawa the fuck away from it, because they only need to be on the staff to obliterate that shit before a single frame of animation is done.

The CE could be decent/good if the people in charge aren't Fukuda and Morosawa-tier terrible (and Hiraiface no longer becomes an issue). Adapting Astray under someone other than those two would probably work out alright. Though at that point, i'd begin wondering why it's not a new universe; makes more sense than being handcuffed by the two series thus far. It almost feels like a waste of time and money in a way, because the foundation is just shit. A movie sequel even kind of feels "wat"ish, unless there's some secret group from Mars or something (and that would be pushing it).

But, regardless of that, the CE fanbase still seems pretty sizable (and now in their 20s, with disposable income.. see HD remasters). So Astray does perhaps stand a decent chance of getting an OVA down the road; though I doubt it'll happen before Hathaway's Flash does, judging by the 2nd centry UC stuff being hinted at in the past year. They're definitely trying to lay a foundation for the UC 100-123 stuff prior to Crossbone.

    Model Graphix 2012 November issue
Cover story: Interview with Bandai Hobby Department Regarding Gundam Age (I think this is wrong, as the comments seem more like the animation staff's, but whatever).

-Hino is a new type of person that has never been involved with Gundam before.
-Usually when enemies show up all of a sudden inside a space colony, people try to explain why; Hino however thinks this is unimportant.
-What he thinks is important is the timing of the enemies showing up: he has a tendency to think of a story as a sequence of in-game events.
-The staff working on the show had to take Hino's ideas and add the missing logic to them.
-They purposely left holes in the setting so that the fans would bite, and use those for getting ideas, but unfortunately this did not work out at all.
-At first they did not find the bad response to Age especially surprising, as this had happened with other Gundam series countless times before.
-However, about three months in (around December) they started to feel that something was wrong.
-With other series, this is the point that the viewers start to say positive things, but this was not the case with Age. Even though there were positive things said, the negative things overwhelmed them drastically.
-Even so the staff tried their best to make the show interesting.
-They started to get confidence around the time HG AGE-2 went on sale. Sales also stabilized around this point (were still pretty shit though).
-They found it interesting how many users played around modifying Age kits (more than usual).
-One of Age's unique qualities was being able to see a lot of modded kits while the show was airing.

Stuff from Ishigaki (Vegan MS designer)
-He has participated in other Gundam series and knew from the beginning that the Vegan designs would be unpopular with Gun-ota.
    -The Vegan designs were order-made.
-He remembered how unpopular Zanscare's designs were and himself wondered if it would be a good idea to go with these.

Figured there had to be reason for the stupid decisions. Just don't shit on AGE stuff in games, Bandai. AGE-1 etc is mild in Overworld.

We never get any of the good/decent looking Gundam games state side, except maybe Dynasty Warriors Gundam.
