Great choice for the kit; do be careful in removing the clear parts (GN condensers, GN bits) for the legs though. I would recommend probably cutting the sprue off from the tree shortly before it goes from thick to thin. From there, you can remove it with the knife or trim it down first with the cutter. Likely because of the plastic type, the clear parts are susceptible to unsightly sprue separation if you ham hand it.

Hopefully the LBX starter kit will be useful for a while before I move into MG kits. Thinking AGE-1 may be my first MG because I like how it looks in MG compared to HG.

Also they ship fast...expected to arrive tomorrow.

Also how good are the newer Shining and God Gundam HGs?

It should last you well beyond then - it just won't be the "fine" tools you'd be using to cut incredibly close to the part (Godhands) or trimming away any remaining sprue (retractible/standard hobby knife). The cutters from the set would still get used for sure: non-precision cutting of the thick sprue parts and stuff.

The AGE-1 would be a fine choice for your first MG: it's a great kit - from a bad series.

Yeah, if they can get it to you via the post office, it's quite fast.

Pretty good from what I heard; would still want to look at Dalong's reviews though.

One thing I notice on the God is the middle red fin/winglet thing being (bizzarely, for 2010..) hollowed on one side. Probably done for weight-saving purposes, but still, this is probably an area you would want to apply some putty to and fill in down the road:

I see no such issue on the Shining.

Release schedule for May is up: http://bandai-hobby.net/site/schedule.html.

Only did a cursory glance over the file, but this month doesn't look that amazing in terms of Gundam reproductions. Strike Gundam Ver. RM/2.0, HG Astray Blue Frame 2nd. L are it for new releases. Some decals for the SEED HGs and recent MGs also. And finally, a shitton of Action Bases; think this is the first time they've appeared on the schedule since late last summer.

Non-Gundam stuff makes it less dissapointing; the Evangelion line has a number of kits (notably the LM HGs) making their annual appearance.

Package came in while I was at work. Box is smaller than I expected for the HG 00 Qan[T] and the sparkle green action base looks great.

HGs are pretty small, though not Victory 1/144 (or Loto) small. lol

Lacking the internal frames and such of the MGs, they're way more compact.

Rough as fuck just trying to get the eye sticker in the area. Guess I'll just have to start painting those areas.

Did the tool set come with tweezers? It's probably the only way you can apply those stickers to the eye cameras (with a sharp pointed object assisting, straight blade knife, etc.) - otherwise yeah, gotta break out the tiny brushes to paint.

If you do opt to begin painting, keep this in mind: it is MUCH easier to make a lighter coat of paint (in this case a brighter green, or pink, yellow, etc.) become hidden by a darker color (likely black). The reverse is substantially more difficult unfortunately; you would probably want to carefully apply the eye camera color -> hit it with a glossy coat (Future) to make wiping away the overpainted black easier -> lay down the black around the eyes -> brush a coat of Future on.

Alternatively, brush on the black trying not to get it on the eyes, or scratching it off before applying the camera color (would still top this off with Future, dat self-leveling gloss).

Yeah the tweezers eventually got it on there, but it was annoying to do. I'm going to need to do a couple more HGs to get used to this again.

If the angle the tweezers are at is the problem (they're straight, like all starter tool sets right?) then maybe picking up curved tweezers might help; most of mine are Tamiya - pretty much all of the ones they make now come to a very sharp point. I think that might be helpful in applying stickers on such a small area (and waterslides in the future, etc.). There's also the cross-action ones (who default to "clamped" versus open) if that is an issue.

I don't think they mention it, but TH is cool about holding things if you wanted to group pre-orders and shit together instead of having them sent out in smaller shipments.

Also, fucking Hiraiface Prince. There's just something so infinitely punchable about his designs from SEED onward. Also I can't believe the latest Destiny remaster episode retained so much stock footage use, holy shit are you guys even trying?

    Spoiler: show

    Anyway, Crossbone Ghost stuff:
    Spoiler: show

Under the (TC-02 or 03) Ballerina's split facemask is the usual Jovian-style cat eye sensors. The manga heads to the remains of Jaburo next, and the three remaining Thoucus MS will appear over the summer (Jack and his stylish fedora-sporting MS are captured, looks like he might change sides). Tobia and Font might have captured the remains of the Galahad too.

Not a fan of Hasagawa's art, but boy does it make me happy in my pants to think of what Katoki/Ebigawa (Federation-style MS) Ishigaki (only guy I can ever see doing these organic-ish designs, ala BESPA, and to a much lesser degree the Vagians of AGE) will do with the Crossbone designs for the animation. Nevermind giving the other MS from F90-F91 too; shit would be just stunning.

By the way, Gundam Breaker is rumored to be getting a North America release; if this is true I would think E3 is when we'd find out, right?

I don't know if this is normal but I ordered from TH last Thursday and it just shipped today for some reason.

What was it? I had that happen once; I ordered more than they had in stock, ended up holding afew days. Alternatively, maybe one of those rare occasions when the site wasn't up to date with their stock (also happened one time when I needed a Gouf 2.0, went on backorder while I was ordering).

Worst case, if it's been a day or two, just drop them an inquiry; they've always been very polite and stuff.

Oh wait, looks like Thursday was a restock day according to their Twitter, maybe they were backed up then. lol

Also, MG Geara Doga will be up for pre-order in a week to a week and a half or sooner (waiting on their distributor to confirm stuff). This might be the MG that detrones the Zaku 2.0 as best-selling grunt MG of all time.

There is the LM HG Taurus... Leo too. http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN55849/Gun http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN55152/Gun There was also the 1/100 B-Club resin Leo afew years ago; though I doubt anyone will care when they milk that Tallgeese/OZ MS frame for the Leo, some January. It's not impossible, but there's also the 1/144 resin OZ MS. Pretty sure the originals would be like finding a specific grain of sand on a beach, but luckily there's recasts; though the issue then becomes how many orders a retailer can get to make the recasting run profitable, etc. HobbyFan used to have most of them listed, but when one of the recasting shops closed up, I guess those moulds were lost. I suppose e2046 might be worth a shot; TH lost the moulds as well when SAGE closed up.

If anyone can find someone who has either of them, TH probably could; just be prepared to pay 15-20 (or maybe even more..) each - they probably haven't been reissued in like a decade or more unfortunately. They've been perpetually missing from periodic Wing production runs; I guess the L in LM stands for "Limited" for a reason, huh?

It doesn't Transform does it? That was what I always loved about the Taurus a transforming grunt suit.

From what I can find on it, unfortunately no. Although, if it could "transform" into Fighter Mode, given the age it would certainly be a parts-former (feet, maybe the arms/hands get replaced with a "transformed" version of the part).

Technically, if this Taurus didn't come with these parts, it MIGHT be possible to take Katamoi/Oyomaru or something and use putty to duplicate these parts. From there, you can modify either for Fighter Mode. I wish I could find better art of Fighter Mode for you - specifically the transformation sequence.

    Two WIP conversions:

    MG RMS-119 EWAC Zack
    Spoiler: show

Going with OVA Sleeves colors (light ghost gray and dark sea gray); although by the time I probably get to the painting stage, Episode 7 promos will be rolling out and the Republic will probably be using the Eye Zack in their colors...

    MG RMS-099B Schuzrum Dias
    Spoiler: show

These resin Grye Binders are so fucking heavy that the MS can't hold them up without something under them. It's obviously not completed; I have to make the enlarged twin racks on the back out of plastic plate.

Aside from that I also have to glue the binder thrusters and the two beam cannon barrel rails ontop.

I think i'm going to put an LED in there as the cockpit pod actually isn't necessary in any way whatsoever for the integrity of the suit besides keeping it accurate. It leaves a nice spacious cavity in which one of the green LEDs can easily be placed (with some plastic removal to allow the light into the large monoeye).

Probably waiting to paint this too, it would be kinda shocking if it didn't make an appearance in Ep. 7.

So, the MG Geara Doga officially marks Bandai's first use of the spring hose-type of power cable. Essentially, its a spring, stretched out to pre-determined intervals inside of a heat-shrunk rubber/plastic tube (like http://www.hlj.com/product/PROSK-38/Sup):

    Spoiler: show

While they're black now, i'm sure the production kit will be that darkened yellow; in addition, look at the right leg to see how those cables there will be secured. Also they're reusing the Sinanju's beam saber parts (though they'll have to shave down the non-cutting side to fit in there).
