I think it might be what kind of circle of friends you are in. None of my friends (IRL that is) afaik has ever done the threesome thing/ lesbian make out thing, I think they'd think you're fucking nuts if you asked them if a guy could make out with their bf/husband. I know when I was in college a lot of the female actors were always making out with each other at cast parties even if they were straight, so I know that part is common enough.
