Simply making the new skin with Ie8 made it all work beautifully. Thanks a bunch for this guide xD

Lucky... I've been fooling around with mine all day long. I still get nothing but different shades of purple where the graphics should be displayed. I can still see the UI, however.

While the purple looks pretty, I'd much rather be able to see what I'm doing!

Once I have 10 posts I will post screenshots, if someone hasn't posted a fix yet.

I think your video card is not potent enough to run XIV (Usually the case with intel integrated cards).

Kmexe is most likely correct. It's not the wrapper, it's just that your integrated graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements to run the game.

Has anyone figured out how to get their gamepad's analog sticks to function properly? I've tried both my Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 and a PS2 controller plugged in via USB and am not able to configure/use both the analog sticks and the dpad. Apparently gamepad support in Wine on OS X is lacking compared to Linux.

A potential workaround from the official Wine wiki is to manually map the axes via a string in regedit, but this hasn't worked for me.

Example (albeit with a different gamepad model):
    "Logitech Logitech Dual Action"="X,Y,Rz,Slider1,POV1"

Just wanted to start with a quick Hi <3, this is my first post new to this forum, and thank you all for efforts on this subject! FFXIV is the first game i really play and i am addicted so i play with two computers because having lots of mules makes the game way easier and fun for me! Unfortunate, one of my computers died recently and i thought a quick temporary fix would be to play on my macbook pro. I'm not a computer guru so i haven't done the partition thing but i did try to follow the instructions for wine and all the problems you guys had, well i am all of the above too so, Please work faster! j/k umm crazy how you guys are working on this right when i need it though. I would like to use controller (JOYSTICKS) too so i'm thinking partition might be better even though that would be really sad putting windows on a mac ; ;! ...so yea

One thing that annoys me about running this on Mac is the volume. It seems rather to be rather louder than it is and while adjusting it in game helps, the environmental songs (like example the crickets and owls sounds in The Black Shroud) are unmutable if I need the game silent.

Btw what resolution and settings are you all using? I've found I can run this game no higher than 1440 x 900 with the draw qualities at standard and low shadows, no depth of field or ambient occlusion and high texture quality but low filtering. From eyeballing it it has a somewhat steady 30fps unless there's a lot of flowers in the ground of many many enemies on screen.

Well, I just installed the Lion OS today and without having to do anything the updater is now installing. So I guess you have to have Lion to do this.

Excellent tutorial! Thanks so much!! I got it running great on a MBP 17" i7. 2 issues:

    1. If your having login page issues, install IE8, worked perfectly
    2. Sound is still not working. Its odd though because when I go into the settings audio settings it makes a quick beep sound, but then stops. And occasionally i'll hear music for a few seconds, then it cuts out. I've tried a bunch of winetrick audio= settings, and nothing seems to work.

Anyone getting audio on newer MacBook Pros?

I dunno about Mac Book Pro but on my iMAc I got sound working but it would cut after a while and would cause my game to crash not too long after. I found that going into the wineskin advance tools section, going to the config utility and setting the audio (in the audio tab of course hehe) from emulation to full did that trick. I also kept the rate at 44100.

I finally got the game working, graphics and sound included, on my 13" MBP. I had to actually install Windows through BootCamp, though. It's running quite decently on medium settings.

    Here are my specs, again:

Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

Very strange... Now that it is installed on the Windows partition, it also seems to be working fine on the Mac partition. o.O

Hi , I've tried all I KNEW: virtual box, boot camp and other ways, but the game never starts. I tried with wineskin winery, but gives me an error at the installation's end.
the only way to get it work is using wine devel and wine tricks... i finally got to the login page, but it was blank... i solved the proble, and i can reach the button PLAy.... but then it crashes... and if I try to re open it, doesn't launch....
i have to restsrt my mac, but i can't get to work... i tried uptading my xquartz... but nothing happens... the screen login is also in Japanese!
I need help, or I'm going to get madder than I am.

    I use a Imac
Intel core i5 quad core 2,5 GHZ
    $gb ram ddr3 1333mhz
Graphics AMD RADEON hd 6570M 512mb memory gddrs

    can someone help please?

Hi there. I have been playing FFXIV just fine up until last year June after an update caused my game to crash, preventing me from uninstalling FFXIV and forcing to have to re-install Windows 7, whereby I get an APPCRASH/ffxivboot.exe error. Prior to this, i have played the game for several months without any issues. i gave up after a long time but I wanted to play again. I decided to purchase a new FFXIV disk, however, found that that disk ceased to work, giving me the same APPCRASH/ffxivboot.exe error. I can run games such as Battlefield 3 on High/Ultra settings no problem so I don't see why this game won't work.

Currently, I have been trying to set up Wine so I can play FFXIV. However, I am stuck right now and need help. I got up to step 7 using the information provided at WineHQ (sorry it won't let me post the URL) Internet Explorer 8 works just fine, but for some reason I am having trouble figuring out how to set up FFXIV from here. I am 1 or 2 steps away from being able to play. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was from the Lindblum server.

Ok - so I've gotten FFXIV installed but I encounter another problem:

Final Fantasy XIV has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Would anyone be so kind to help me with this issue? I was able to run the game in Windows 7 via Bootcamp just fine until June 2011's update. After that, my game (including a recently purchased copy of FFXIV) cease to work . So I thought I would try Wineskin.

    2 question

First does this count as Virtualizing example like VMWARE so it splits your specs?

Or is it a bit like bootcamp so if i can run FFXIV np with bootcamp i can run it with wine?

Also anyway to install a PS3 controller on mac to play this?

    Thx
