So basically the same reason they turned the Mandarin into a spoof character.

That sort of move in a film today shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. So many comic characters were created during a very different time globally and none of the creators probably ever imagined their ideas getting off the pages of the comics they were aiming for American only teens.
It makes complete sense. Joe Average doesn't read Doc Strange anyway, so they won't know the difference, and this ensures the movie isn't blocked from making a hojillion dollars in the Asian markets. The only people who would see it and be offended are a niche of a niche of a niche in one region.
Ken Watanabe as The Ancient One. That is all.
Edit: I've reread that guy's comment. So basically Hollywood is catering to racist/xenophobic China? Okay, then.
Ken Watanabe is Japanese. Pretty sure mixing up the different asian ethnicities is worse than just white washing the character.
And yes, they are. Because they have a huge market.
Think of it less like bowing to China's issues and more to bowing to China's hundreds of millions of dollars.
Casting a Chinese person as a Tibetan would be akin to casting a Spaniard as a Mexican, I think.

For being 4 months away, it doesn't feel like much info has been teased or leaked. Trailer is still grade A though, still have high hopes.
I think the film is mostly digital effects so it would be tougher to leak.
I think the less we know the better.
Except nothing has come from that as of yet.
any clue when we should expect the next trailer? :O
edit - nvm, SDCC seems fairly likely
Quoting Tyven. Sorta.
