Shailene Woodley has been confirmed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The Descendants star was reportedly in negotiations a few weeks ago to play Mary Jane Watson in the highly anticipated sequel, but it’s how her character will be utilized in the next movie that is turning some heads.

Almost every Spider-Man fan knows how Peter Parker went from his first love Gwen Stacy to his long-time love Mary Jane. So, while it would have been interesting to see a love triangle build in the sequel, Sony Pictures has different plans in store for the new webslinger. According to THR, Woodley would only have a small role in the sequel, which would expand in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

While reporting on Woodley being close to closing a deal to star in Divergent, Summit/Lionsgate’s adaptation of Veronica Roth’s young adult novel, THR revealed the details of the Mary Jane role in The Amazing Spider-Man sequels.

The Mary Jane role is proving to be only a very small part in Amazing Spider-Man 2 but blossoms into an integral lead for the planned third movie as the studio seeks to build to the classic “Death of Gwen Stacy” story.

This pretty much confirms that Emma Stone’s involvement with The Amazing Spider-Man franchise ends after the second installment – of course there could be room for a ghostly cameo, but that hasn’t been confirmed. It also confirms that the studio is already planing for a third film.

Yeah, actually just came to this thread after having watched it. Had no intention of going to the theaters to see it but got bored so put it on while I was grinding away in BL2. Was very entertained. Move far exceeded my expectations.

uhhh...gruesome (up close of wound) uncle Ben death and Dennis talking about thumbs up asses. (Spiderman is the ultimate hero for kids, why would they want to show children that?)
those are the ones that I can remember.

Also to backup the point of targeting kids, this is the fastest paced superhero movie I have ever seen.
I put it on for my cousin the other day, looked away, when I looked back he was already being bit in the lab.

Don't know about Electro, one of the more boring characters imo. Really wonder where they're going with the series and how grounded in reality they're going to keep it. Lizard was about as far you could go with out just going straight into the sci-fi thing because at least he was made using science; really hope Venom makes it in either the next movie or the one after.

Ugh. Yeah he kinda half-way confirmed it via Twitter. If you're adapting a villain that hasn't been on the big screen already, do an interesting one. Give us Carnage or Vulture! I think Jackie Earle Haley would pull off either roll.

I still want them to wake up and use Kraven or at least Mysterio. Electro though? I have almost zero interest in the character in the comics and even less as the main villain of a major hollywood film no matter who they cast in the role.
