Probably not firefox, maybe you should try reformatting your PC.

I advocate using a hostfile that blocks ads in favor of, or even along side adblock, it can cut the memory usage down a ton and stop a lot of crashes.

My firefox hasn't crashed, nightly or otherwise, in months.

Link to v10 nightly? I'm only seeing 9.0a1 on the official site. I'm using v7 beta atm, should I backup my shit before updating?

Eww, no ad-block+ support for FF10 yet. Got a workaround to forcing it?

    Thanks.

Took a lot of finicking/restarting/hard-crashing the browser to get the force-compatibility to actually take into effect. Hopefully it stays smooth from here.

All I could ask for over FF7 is better memory use, and Flash not taking forever to initialize or appear to hog priority as far as bandwidth usage goes for the page.

Try a different filter subscription, I had no problems with ads on 7.

What's everyone opinion on Palemoon? Using 6.0.2 x64, few things annoying with it such as status bar keeps coming back whenever I restart PM and mid-clicks on certain bookmarks will cause the menu to move to my 2nd monitor but other than that it seems ok, all the addons work with it like they would on FF so no issues there.

Firefox 7 crashed the first time I tried to open it lol. "Well this is embarrassing" indeed. Back to Chrome again I guess.

I stopped using palemoon a little over a month ago, when i saw nightly was far better. If for some reason you refuse to use nightly 10.0, then use palemoon, but really there's not much reason to not use nightly.

I'm not against using nightly, was just wondering how it compared. When I set up this install I wasn't aware of nightly builds. I'll get round to saving bookmark/pw and make the swap at some point then.

As far as I'm aware, nightly are builds of Firefox as they are being developed with new crap. Firefox Aurora builds follow 6 weeks based on that, and then a more refined Firefox Beta release follows 6 more weeks after that. Then eventually becomes a stable release.

I have to say, I'm not seeing much of a performance difference in Nightly v10 vs. Beta 7 on my Mac.

[EDIT] Wish I started using Sync earlier. Super slick.

This is the attitude that causes people to still be using IE6 (or lower, oh god). Not sure why you'd be proud of that.

Also, the UI is 100% customizable, so...

If you mean status bar instead of the bubble like thing then palemoon has that, even then you can use addons anyway. Can use addons to change new tab/whatever it was buttons order on right click as well.

No, I think he means being able to browse many tabs consistently with out crashing. I'll try one of the betas later, but so far I think I went up to 6 and crashed far too often with a lot of open tabs that I downgraded back to 3.

Wtf kind of tabs you keeping open?

The majority of my Firefox-related crashes were solely courtesy of its handling of Flash, and that got mostly fixed when they made a plugin-container in version 4 (later refined in 5) for it so it can crash without taking out the browser also.

Either that or the Mac version is more stable for some reason......which would surprise me as it's not the platform that's focused on. I've had 1.5gb worth of tabs open with no problem.
