It's not exactly a gimp Level 75 WS set. Only 76+ gear there is Hauberk. If he's been playing for 2 days, it's likely he hasn't started farming Lv76+ gear yet, or even has enough abyssea stones to really get on with it.

When you put the set in context, it is less gimp. Of course, that could be his full time gear, but you don't know that one way or the other.
