Welcome to Fenrir, Cair.
Welcome to Fenrir, Cair.
That makes sense, Still, I can forgive the gear.
That Knife in his offhand? Nope. Unforgivable to offhand a Thief's Knife with a Mandau! He could take a trip to the AH and pick up an Aluh Jambiya... He is 99.
The reason i posted this is because he just posted a SS on FFXIAH saying "Finally after 3 years" and i noticed he was wearing W.Turban... So i clicked on his page and found that. - So he completed it quite recently.
My linkshell tried Legion for the first time on Thursday and we picked up a few people to fill out enough for 18. This was unfortunately one of those that we initially picked up (and no, they didn't stay in the run that long).
Pics were taken by a friend of mine because of the "conversation" on the second image.
Iota Ring, Uther's Grip, Flame Sachet, Regain Moonshade, Ogier's Breeches, 7% Haste in total (Goading Belt and Usu feet), and the rest of the gear is pretty obvious.
He only has 30 inv space, don't judge him!
@ Karbuncle, and everyone else trolling
I am Vespertaru of Bismarck. You guys really are so piety. I came back after being gone for a year. I came back with the chance to finally finish my relic once and for all. That's pretty much all I mainly worked on was getting gil and dyna. Now you tell me, you have your dyna ls stolen from you, many opportunities escape you to finish your relic, and you are so close you can finish it you put off everything else; wouldn't you just focus on that? I waited over three years to finish it, my gear is not that far behind the curve. I am guessing some of you must be from that generation that abyssea burned their jobs and think gear > skill.
Ah, here we go, the fun begins. When people come to defend themselves!
Look man, these days relics aren't really that hard to get; sure the time is still a little daunting for those who don't have the dedication (hence why I don't have one; I go to dyna every 3-4 days at best lately, so I'm moving at a crawl), but really it's not that hard to get. And no matter how much "skill" you have, your gear does play a huge role in your playing. Skill in the game amounts to having proper gear sets (PDT, MDT, TP, WS, etc) and using them as appropriate, along with whatever JAs you have that are appropriate to the moment. What is your skill? Being able to run behind things and stab them? That's clearly a ton of skill. Dodging attacks? Hey look, an evasion set, that's gear-related. Until you explain to us what "skill" you have that's so important that it's worth putting off getting a proper TP set at least to make sure you can use your Mandau and its Aftermath to the fullest extent, I don't think the argument's gonna float very well.
Vesper, word to the wise. Just roll on little tumbleweed. No good will come of this.
grabs popcorn
While I can appreciate what you are saying, I would just let this go. The decision you made is not necessarily a poor one, yet at that present moment you were gimp. Almost everyone has been gimp at some point in time - if it genuinely happens to you (and not as a consequence of some jackass trying to "frame" you by screenshotting you mid gear swap or something) then just accept it, move on, and laugh at it later. Some of my jobs were so gimp when I first had them but are far from it now.
I seriously think people who can't pass the "skill" part of this game are clinically retarded.
I just want to point out, that having a proper TP and WS set with decent second best weapon options, will give better results than a relic and poor sets.
seen that guy tping in swift belt at kaggen
How come every time I post someone I find the guy who's going to defend himself and call everyone trolls? Seriously I post gimps in this thread like Once a year and it always turns out to be the guy who will create an account to go off.
Just my Luck. That said, no Excuse for a Thief's Knife. Finishing your Relic is an admirable aspect, But dropping by the AH and picking up something thats not a THF's knife would have taken all of 10 minutes. Aluh Jambiya would probably be your best bet. a LIttle expensive, Yes, BUt it'd set you back at best 1 day of Dynamis Farming, and Aluh Jambiya would be your static offhand for a very long time, and probably would have increased your killspeed in Dynamis enough to speed up you getting your relic by a day or two. Making up for the 1mil you'd have to drop on it and then some.
Thief's Knife was my only real gripe with your gear set. Anyone can see you just jumped out of a time machine from 2007, But you've been back for at least a month, thats more than enough time to ditch a W.turban. Dynamis is a 2hour/day event. You had plenty of time to farm seals, But I could let that go because you're at least building around a haste set. The Knife just makes me cringe. I should probably bring up its not jealousy in case anyone tries to pull that at some time. I have a Mandau, THF is my main and favorite job, Its the best geared of every job i have... And I'm a bit more critical to other THFs because of it. Its like a PUP trying to play well and seeing a PUP/WHM sub-healing. It just hits thats part of your mind you wanna kill someone.
TL;DR - Theres no excuse for your gear, 30 minutes a day after dynamis could have you all your Empyrean+2 gear. But I Probably wouldn't have posted it if not for the THF's Knife. Thats inexcusable. Even in Dynamis, Its a waste of time. That Item is in my Mog safe rotting because the DPS hit is so tremendous, especially in Dynamis, That its not worth equipping for anything short of something like Provenance Watcher or Behemoth/KB/etc where its 1 fight, and you can Equip it, hit, then take it off.
Just replace the darn Thief's Knife
This says it nicely too. Hell when ifirst started, I was a THF/SMN lol. Way back in 2003-4 I think though. Before CoP came out. I actually played THF/SMN Because i liked Carbuncle. Just look back and laugh once you get better.
I would like to start this over. Gonna take back everything I said at the start. Mornings are not my thing and I had some time to think about all this. Few things, my relic was on and off ever since I lost my dyna ls back end of Nov'09. I was 47/70 and sold it off and split with those that didn't ditch me. That being said, I was close went through many ups and downs of whether I was gonna finish or not. Coming back a month ago and being able to actually see myself getting done, made everything else not important. I will go on record my gear is gimped compared to what the standard is now. I personally pref the term, out dated. And yeah you caught me idling in Thief Knife, but I mean come on, I'm a Thief, TH is what we do. I don't always have my TH dagger on for everything. As for the head, hey man, got the job done. Don't have as much time as I like to play as I use to when I was HNM. Had enough time to do dyna and level jobs to get cruor and turn into Gil. Now that I got my dagger done I can farm +1/+2 stuff all I want. I had no gil to spare to do anything else. I wanted this dagger done. Maybe other people would have done it in a different order. But when you have to wait as long as I did and look at the stage 4 for 2 1/2 years, I tell you man nothing else mattered. So at this point I don't care anymore if my name is listed here or not, because its soon not gonna matter. If people wanna point and laugh, then fine. But if you wanna be happy for me that I got this done, then please do. But in the words of some good friends of mine, "Time for mad blue boxes man".
There is a difference between gimp: "my gear is fine the way it is because I am awesome on the inside" and gimp "my gear is bad now, but I am willing to change". People who are willing to change should be encouraged to change. To quote Quicklet, "enlightenment through elitism."
