Lol, all of this logic is pretty flawed. Time is time regardless what you're doing with it. If you can make 15m faster than you can do an avg of about 100 VWs then make the gil and buy cells (as mentioned this can be tedious, but its not like you're super concerned about immediacy in either regard really). My ls leader 8boxes 12 pils an hr, in that case I'd probably just spam the VW. Most people take on avg 1.5hrs to build a group/kill 6 (and I honestly think that's a liberal estimate). Even if you never had to rebuild you'd still be looking at roughly 20+hrs of continuous work. If your income is at all decent, it would probably better serve to buy, regardless of whether or not your working on a relic since the ultimate time spent doing the VW would probably detract from your ability to grind gil for currency.

I do Qilin/Uptala/etc for gil, but the whole point of mentioning building a relic is with the gil I do make from VW, I have a different priority in regards where that gil goes. If I finish the 1-2 relics i'm planning and still don't have a Toci's then yea I will buy the pulse cells, but i'm not wasting gil on it beforehand since that 15mil will put a nice dent in some relics with how currency prices are nowadays. If I see a Pil shout and there's not much else going on I'll still go obviously but that doesn't really change how dumb the drop system is in Voidwatch that a guy with 80 Masa spamming Gekko can get drops over people who put out actual damage and contribute in terms of procs.

And mdkuser i'm curious how you'd make 10-12mil~ solo in Dynamis in 4 nights like you claim, just out of curiosity since that'd mean I was doing it very very wrong.

This so much. Hell, I'm not looking forward to doing dynamis for brd feet and blm hands for my mule... I can't stand anything thats the same repetitive daily gil grind. Part of the reason a relic took me about a year... That and Australia's shitty upside down internet...

I stopped going to dynamis at all after finishing my relic/trials besides helping friends with their trials. Screw that place. Still have nightmares of the 75 era when it was 3hrs or so and you generally lost 20k exp to bad pulls and other crap depending on your group. Used to have to exp brd between runs just to not dlvl to 74.

Didn't realize I'd tossed a grenade and walked away! I think I posted this before, but pulse cells are at most 3,000,000 each at most on my server. Lots in stock/bazaars as well, so you could probably get a pretty good deal if you /telled someone and haggled a little. Ffxidb lists drop rates as approximately 0.85%; 118 fights per drop on average. 118 fights is approximately 20 groups, which in my experience have always managed to take approximately two hours from start to finish (less if you sneak in at 17/18, but I assume you're not going to want to wait for someone else to make 20 groups). Total time spent on average is fourty hours, then, and so you'd only need to make 15,000,000/40=375,000 gil per hour in order to save yourself the frustration of Voidwatch. I'd argue that rate of gil per hour is not impossible to achieve. Maybe you're lucky and get it in less than 118 fights, but you can't count on it. I spent two weeks of my summer spamming Kaggen before buying the cells for 12,000,000. I regret everything about those two weeks.

If people realized how terrible an idea it is to join the shouts after they already have the body, the cell market could dry up, I guess, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen on my server. 59,400 gil per fight on average from Pil vs. 184,500 gil per fight on average from Dimgruzub, for example (prices vary by server).

This isn't really a great idea, but if your mule has good gear the glove trial in Windurst might be soloable. I got stuck soloing a scholar trial, so I soloed the Yagudo summoner's avatar in front of the entrance to Heaven's tower. It took three runs using an Emperor band. There are three or four summoners near TE-2, but I was afraid to try that spot since it's flooded with yagudo, whereas the heaven's tower entrance only has a ninja and a summoner and is safe to rest in without invisible. Not sure if you could one-shot them on black mage, as I was only able to do it with Ebullience. They have approximately 2,800 HP, if I remember correctly, while I was able to hit approximately 3,000 with Nares, magian staff, elemental obi and the trial boots equipped. It's not efficient, especially since you can duo it, but I thought I'd mention it incase it somehow helps.

his torque was all elemental resists +6 lv. 50 torque, the two rings are from mandies in past, belt is windbuffet, sword is some level 87 abyssea sword, and ranged weapon is rogetsurin...... he was using no blue spell except buff spells (including magic barrier on mobs that don't do magic unless you're stupid) and he was only spamming seraph blade/RLB with his npc fellow to set up skillchains.....
