    Changing looks for 1.0 characters

[NA] Regarding the Character Appearance Change of Your Version 1.0 Characters
We have confirmed an issue wherein players were unable the load their character data from the official benchmark when changing the appearance of their FINAL FANTASY XIV version 1.0 characters.

In addition, we identified several display issues with the editing screen itself. Due to these display issues, players may have had a difficult time changing the appearance and/or character name of their characters.

Therefore, we have decided to provide the following services.

    - Provide a one-time character name change.
    - Provide a one-time character appearance change.

    * Please note that we will only be providing the service to those who encountered problems during the character change process.

We will follow-up once we have more information on the matter.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Seems people are too busy playing to look at the forums, but lets not forget that the devs are still posting

Hello! UI lead, Hiroshi Minagawa here.
I’d like to follow-up on the post made by the community team the other day about the sort feature.

This is going to be quite the long post, but I’d like to take the time to talk in detail about the sort feature.
Two item sort commands that will be implemented

There are two types of item sort features that we are working on implementing during patch 2.1.
The very simple and easy to use “Sort” feature.
A sort that can be used with a text command to organize your inventory more freely and specifically.

We are in the process of readying the above two sort features to be implemented in patch 2.1. These features can be used to the below three windows:
    Inventory
    Armoury Chest
    Retainer Inventory

    Progress status

Below is an image of the sort feature. (Apologies it is in Japanese.)

    http://static.finalfantasyxiv.com/to...7a/11103_0.gif

This image was taken in the dev. environment this past Tuesday, and as you can see the sort feature is working nicely for the inventory.

As I am sure you all can see, this is not only a sort by item level feature.

With this feature, it’s possible to arrange all 100 spaces of your inventory at the same time, and it will arrange your gear in the below order. The portion in brackets is what you can indicate.
Stacks numbers (Possible to select high to low, low to high)
    HQ/NQ
Gear with and without materia (only equipment)
Spiritbond (equipment only, high to low in order of percentage)
Standard list order: organizes items with the same name
Item level (equipment only, possible to select high to low or low to high)
Equipment level (equipment only, possible to select high to low or low to high)
Item category (possible to select high to low or low to high)
Fill in empty spaces or divide major categories by tab

With the above processes, I think this should give a sufficient sort result for 70-80% of players. (It’s possible to change the order setting for each of the above items.)
*Please note that this is still in-development, there is a chance that parameters and ordering process change!

Also, by looking at the above image, you can see that multiple stacks of similar items will not be combined. (This can be seen with the yellow potions in tab 2.)

I apologize, but currently this will be difficult to address in patch 2.1, but this is something we plan to address. The reason why this will take longer is a somewhat complex story, so I’ve written it out at the end of this post separately. If you’re interested, by all means have a read.

    Text command sort feature

*From here on out the explanation might get a bit difficult to understand if FFXIV: ARR is your first MMO, so feel free to skip over this if you like. This is mainly for people who know about the item sort add-ons for other MMOs.

The text command feature was built to fulfill the needs of high-level players that the above sort feature cannot satisfy.

The sort feature is something that is extremely easy to understand and simple, but the text command feature allows a very degree of ordering freedom with sort keys for various parameters.
*We plan on making a GUI for this in the future.

If you’re familiar with the auto-filter and sort feature of Microsoft Excel, I think this should sound familiar, but we’ve prepared text commands to order individual parameters, and by sorting multiple times for different parameters you can achieve your desired objective.

Combining this with macros, it’s possible to arrange multiple parameters at the same time, and you can build extremely specialized sort requirements.

We are planning to take the internal processes for the sort feature that will be implemented in patch 2.1 and turn them into text commands for parameter arrangement. Following this, we will be expanding this feature by increasing the amount of text commands so it can have a variety of applications.

We are also planning for these features to be used with user created add-ons and have built out the specs accordingly, and they will be implemented as a client-side process to avoid placing stress on the game servers.

    Combining stack items

At the current point in time, the sort feature will not address combining stacks of similar items. As I mentioned briefly in the text command portion above, the arrangement process will be something that takes place on the client-side, which is displayed for the player.

If we were to implement a stack combining process only on the client-side, and you had the maximum amount of slots filled (server-side limitation), disparities would arise between what you see as remaining for space and what is actually there server-side. Due to this, we need to have this process take place on the server-side. As such, this cannot be accomplished with UI implementation only.

Once the servers have become stable we will be addressing this, but we appreciate your patience in the meantime.

    Fucking Cramate

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...54#post1322554

    Greetings,

I’m happy to see that you adventurers are up for a good challenge and ready to get down and dirty with some difficult content!

Of course in addition to supplementing the end-game with extreme battles and other challenging content, we will also reduce the difficulty of the existing high level content at the same time, as Yoshida has mentioned in previously during Letter from the Producer LIVE.

We're always reading and reporting your feedback, but please understand that when we introduce new content and supplement higher-level events, it allows us to ease up on earlier content. (Of course there will be things added in patch 2.1 that isn't focused on end-game.)

We’ll be announcing details about the specific content to be released in the near future, but I wanted to just remind you about the general plan.

    Regarding vanity slots

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...15#post1339115

    Greetings,

We realize that there is a huge demand for vanity slots and the development team would like to implement this as soon as possible. However, implementation will not make it in time for patch 2.1.

We'll be sure to keep you updated on the status, but rest assured that it is on the way!

    Hello everyone,

Yoshi-P made a post about the upcoming World transfer service a few hours ago. The translation will be available soon but we can already tell you that upon the launch of this service, the first 5 days will be free.

The World transfer service will start in the first half of this month.

    Too hilarious to pass up.

    Hello,
    Lead designer Takeo Suzuki here.

We understand that you all care deeply for the detail and shape of your characters, and while the development team is really happy about this, we would like to keep the specifications for character’s butts as they are.

I’d like to explain a bit about why we changed the shape of character model’s butts. It all began when Yoshi-P and the character team sat down and reconsidered what should be prioritized for players when we moved from 1.0 to A Realm Reborn.

Based on this discussion it was decided to place emphasis on the below:
New races (male Miqo’te, female Highlanders, and female Roegadyn.)
Increase the amount of content and the amount of reward items (equipment and weapons)
(We want to make a team that can create more than four times the amount of rewards compared to what there was originally.)

As a result of thinking about what could be done to fulfill the above objectives all while converting everything over and optimizing all the data by completely remaking the graphics engine, we decided to reduce the cost by simplifying items that were too complex when making them. One aspect of this was the graphical display of waist equipment.

I deeply apologize for those of you who were really partial to what Miqo’tes looked like in 1.0, but this decision was made so we could relaunch with new races and a lot of new equipment. We will be implementing a wide variety of really cool looking equipment moving forward, and we appreciate your understanding on this.

Letter from the Producer LIVE at TGS(Day 2) Q&A Session
    The Binding Coil of Bahamut

    [15:46]
    Q. How many players have cleared this so far?
    A. It has yet to be cleared! The world-first clearing of Turn 4 was accomplished by a group of adventurers from the Order of the Blue Gartr free company. Right now there are about four to five groups in Japan that have also cleared Turn 4 (as of 9/22/2013).
*The Order of the Blue Gartr is a famous progression guild from FINAL FANTASY XI.

    [16:22]
    Q. Were there more reports of groups clearing Turn 4 than you had expected?
    A. We expected it to take players about three weeks to clear Turn 3, but Blue Gartr managed to clear it in two—a full week earlier than we predicted. We had anticipated a surge in the number of players taking on Turn 4 come the third week, and that's exactly how it worked out.

    [16:58]
    Q. Are you planning to add more to the Binding Coil of Bahamut after patch 2.1?
    A. Additions to the Binding Coil of Bahamut will be made in patch 2.2. In patch 2.1, we’ll be introducing the Crystal Tower, and we’ll be alternating between updates for these two dungeons with every patch. Patch 2.2 will be the Coil, patch 2.3 will be the Tower, and so on.

    [17:42]
    Q. Currently, progression resets every week on Tuesday (JST), but do you have any plans to reduce this time so it’s easier to go with others to help out?
    A. Each turn in the Binding Coil of Bahamut has a boss, and when this monster is defeated your progress will be saved. This save will be maintained for seven days, after which it will be reset so you cannot keep doing the same turn over and over again. For the burnent, we have no plans of changing the way this works.

    [18:31]
    Q. The way it's currently designed, you have to designate players with the most progress as leader. Are there any plans to change this?
    A. We'll take a look at how players are faring and discuss how progress should be saved.

    [18:54]
    Q. You mentioned that difficulty will be eased with patches, but will these difficulty adjustments occur through the introduction of more powerful gear, or will you actually lower the content difficulty itself?
A.We plan on easing the difficulty via something similar to the Echo enhancement granted during main quest battles.

    Crystal Tower

    [24:08]
    Q. How are the Binding Coil of Bahamut and Crystal Tower different?
    A. Even with the release of patch 2.1, the Binding Coil of Bahamut will be the hardest content in the game. The Crystal Tower will be more casual, as it can also be accessed via the Duty Finder.

    [24:47]
    Q. Please tell us how the party list will look when you’re in a 24-person party.
    A. As there are a lot of people playing on the PS3, we’ve worked to create a special list that won't clutter the screen.

    [25:25]
    Q. How will the roles be divided for a 24-person party?
    A. There will be three sets of regular eight person parties comprised of 2 tanks, 4 DPS, and 2 healers.

    [26:08]
    Q. Will each of the encounters be with all 24 people?
    A. There will be situations when you fight large bosses with all 24 members. Within the dungeon there are three large tablets and three branching paths…but I don’t think I can say any more than that for now.

    [27:19]
    Q. How long will a single run be?
    A. We're anticipating somewhere between 90 to 120 minutes.

    [27:57]
    Q. You mentioned that in patch 2.1 there will be item level requirements for accessing content, but what will the requirement be for Crystal Tower?
    A. We don’t plan on making it as high as the Binding Coil of Bahamut. We’re thinking about having a relic weapon be required.

    [28:50]
    Q. Tell us about the drops and rewards for clearing it.
    A. If you have a FFIII strategy guide handy, you may want to look at the strongest items you can find there.

    [30:22]
    Q. Will there be any musical arrangements based on FFIII in the Crystal Tower?
    A. All the music is finished, but you'll have to wait to find out. I think the Crystal Tower will be a very nostalgic experience for you all, and sound director Soken has created amazing songs for it.

    Housing

    [34:51]
    Q. In the housing video, the exterior of each of the buildings changes, but are these all parts that can be swapped in and out?
    A. Small, medium, and large houses will all have 5 basic types of houses to choose from. After that, you can change the color of the outside walls, door, windows, roof, roof material, chimney, weather vane, and fencing. For the inside, we've prepared a wide assortment of furniture items, as well as a number of furnishings with a very Final Fantasy feel to them. Naturally, the art team has designed each item to fit the setting of Eorzea. Giving players a chance to really live in Eorzea through housing, we look forward to showing players that FFXIV is about more than just fighting.

    [37:06]
    Q. Will the areas where we build houses be determined by Grand Company affiliation?
    A. Not at all. You'll be able to build a house in whichever housing area you like.

    [37:36]
    Q. How much will it cost to purchase land and a house?
    A. I know you're all dying to know, but unfortunately the pricing for small, medium sized, and large houses is still undecided. We understand this makes it difficult to save up for a house, but first we'd like to get more gil circulating in the market. We will finalize prices after taking a look at the economy just before patch 2.1. We apologize for making you wait until the very last minute.

    [39:03]
    Q. We know free company housing will come first, but when are you planning to introduce individual player housing?
    A. We would like to introduce this as soon as possible, and will be monitoring server conditions along with your feedback as we decide on the proper timing.

    [39:53]
    Q. Please tell us what we can do with individual player housing. Can we set our minions to play around the house? Can we make greenhouses and fields?
    A. Through updates, we're planning to make it possible for players to grow gysahl greens and hatch baby chocobos and raise them. Also, we’re planning underground workshops where crafters can build boats and airships.

    [41:07]
    Q. Will anyone from the free company be able to arrange furniture in the house?
    A. This will depend on the authority given to free company members.

    [41:50]
    Q. Will gil be the only way to purchase free company housing?
    A. Our initial plan is for players to use gil. We will consider other methods as we monitor the economy on each server, but this is something we'd like to discuss thoroughly before reaching a decision.

    [42:47]
    Q. Will players have access to market boards, retainers, and NPC vendors from within the housing areas or their house?
    A. We are planning to let players place shops similar to those you’d find in towns in their houses and hire NPCs to manage them. Also, it will be possible to setup stands outside of your house and hire free company retainers to sell items for you. The entire housing area is going to become one huge market.

    [43:12]
    Q. We understand that furniture can be crafted, but, will all crafter classes be able to get involved?
    A. Culinarians, for example, will be able to cook dishes to adorn tables, gatherers will supply materials needed for crafting, and Disciples of War and Magic will find rare items from enemies used to make unique decorative items. There will be something for everyone to do.

    The Wolves’ Den

    [51:49]
Q.I'm worried there will be a disparity in strength between players who are friends fighting in pre-made teams and those who team up randomly using the Duty Finder. How will this be handled?
    A. They will be matched with similar people. Players in pre-made teams will be matched with other pre-made teams, and those who sign up randomly will play with others who choose to join a random match.

    [53:02]
    Q. Exactly what will PvP-specific skills entail?
    A. There will be abilities you can use to immediately recover from Sleep, Bind, or other enfeeblement effects cast on you, and also passive traits that will reduce the duration of sleep effects. We will also expand these skills moving forward, as they can be used during the Front Lines PvP planned for the future.

    [54:31]
Q.Are there any plans for one-on-one matches in the open world?
    A. I understand the desire for an easy way to test your skills against other players, but we'd like to restrict this type of combat to housing areas.

    Greetings, everyone.

I’m happy to announce that the World Transfer Service will become available on October 15.

We are currently performing our final testing on the service in preparation for its launch, and as long as no major issues are discovered between now and tomorrow night, we will be launching the service according to schedule. In the event that an issue is discovered, there is a possibility we push it back a couple of days, so we appreciate your understanding if this were to happen.

We'll be announcing more details on the Lodestone very soon, but I wanted to give you all a heads up!
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post1402200
We've spoken with the development team about the ambient voices, and Sound Director Masayoshi Soken clued us in on some of the particulars for crafting the commotion that is made in cities and the other ambient noises. Primarily, it would be difficult to turn them off individually. Technically speaking, we would need to have a massive amount of settings added to turn each of these on/off.

For example, there are around 100-200 bug noises, including different sounds for monsters and ambient noises, so including all of these would make the setting screen look pretty ridiculous!

However, while it might not be perfect, we would like to make adjustments so you can listen to the sounds you want using an easier to understand format. Specifically, we will be making it possible to adjust the volume by adjusting a "sounds generated by others" parameter in the sound settings. This will allow you to change the volume of other players' crafting noises etc. If possible we'd like to separate the sounds for yourself, party, linkshell, and other characters so you can change the volume for each, but we are still looking into the specifics for this feature.

    Greetings,

We're planning to release a hotfix next week that we'll use to address and adjust a few elements.

One of the adjustments regards the regular monsters in level 50 dungeons and how there is currently no reason to defeat them.

We'll be announcing additional details about the hotfix details soon!

    Greetings!

As we mentioned recently, we will be performing a hot fix next week where we will be performing adjustments and addressing various things. While the specific details will be announced separately, I would like to give you an overview of what will be done ahead of time.
    • Changes will be made to the way equipment is bound.
    • Introducing additional servers and enhancements to act as a countermeasure against the congestion to enter "Amdapor Keep."
    • The difficulty for level 50 dungeons will be adjusted.
    • The number of areas where you can acquire Allagan Tomestones of Philosophy and Mythology will be increased as well as the amount you can acquire.
    • Implementation of a population cap for each field.
    • Adjustments to the spawn rate of monsters that drop diremite web and additional locations where Karakul can be found.
    • The amount of experience points that can be acquired on botanist and miner, as well the experience points that can be acquired from their fieldcraft leves, will be increased.
    • User interface elements related to materia and target information will be adjusted.

In addition to the above adjustments we will also be fixing a number of bugs.

Square Enix today announces details of the unique Halloween-like event, “All Saints’ Wake” and more in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

From this Friday, October 18th through Friday, November 1st, enjoy All Saints’ Wake as the streets of Eorzea are decked with ceremonial lanterns and fanciful costumes can be enjoyed by all. A traveling circus troupe has made its way to the city-states, appearing overnight, as if by magic. Speak to these Shifty Thespians for a special Quest, but never forget that All Saints’ Wake is a time for tricks as well as treats.

We’re also pleased to announce that the free World Transfer Service begins tomorrow until Monday, October 21st. Like the name implies, this service allows you to move your character to the World of your choice. So if your friends are playing in a different World, this week is the perfect opportunity to arrange playing in the same World. For more information on World Transfer, please visit The Lodestone to read the guidelines and then proceed to the Final Fantasy XIV: Mog Station.

At Tokyo Game Show last month, the latest Letter from the Producer Live was held as a live event for attendees. Lots of exciting new information was revealed about the next major content update that arrives later this year, including videos and further detail on The Wolves’ Den that will serve as the center for Player vs Player battles in Eorzea, and a video that showcased some of the many customizable options that will be available with the addition of player Housing.

A new video is available that allows players to take a closer look at Wolves’ Den, the coliseum home of PvP battles, shown at New York Comic Con this year and coming later this year with Patch 2.1.

Alongside The Wolves’ Den PvP Battles and Housing, there’s a variety of other features and content being added to the game later this year, including the new Primal Battle: Good King Moggle Mog XII, Extreme Mode Primal Battles, new Dungeons including Pharos Sirius, Treasure Hunting, Hard Mode Boss Battles, Beastmen Daily Quests and The Crystal Tower that fans of Final Fantasy III will be eager to visit. More details about the content update including its title will be announced at a later time.

November sees the collaboration with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII with Lightning appearing in one of the game’s Full Active Time Events, with special Lightning and Final Fantasy XIII-themed gear and weapons available for successful players. This special FATE is scheduled to go live on Thursday, November 14th. Keep an eye on further collaborations in the future, as Final Fantasy XIV will be celebrating the 11th anniversary of Final Fantasy XI and the first anniversary of Dragon Quest X in Japan.

Last but certainly not least, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida revealed the incredible news at Tokyo Game Show that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has quickly grown to over a million players in the first month since launch, and it's continuously growing. Square Enix and the entire Final Fantasy XIV team would like to express our gratitude to all the players that have joined us in Eorzea on this remarkable adventure.
