Well that's promising, I'd pretty much given up on this leaving Japan.

It's funny because I was just talking to a friend last night about how this needed a PC release...
Of course this makes me sad because it's still not leaving Japan.
SE sure has their hands full with MMOs.
FFXI on PS2, Xbox360, and the PC version.
FFXIV on PS2, PS3, PC, and PS4 in the future.
DQX on Wii, WiiU, and PC.
That said I do hope DQX comes stateside. I'll be playing day 1.
Man. I saw this bumped and was hoping it was release news.
If we ever see this, will be the easiest game purchase decision I've ever made.
I was bored last night so I downloaded the benchmark and got a 6505 with my laptop on max settings, pretty happy with that.

That is an adorable benchmark.
If the Taru or the Lalafell were as adorable as the girl in the benchmark I might actually like them instead of wanting kill them all.
So many d'aaaaawwwww moments in a short benchmark. I also lol'd hard when the Zombies started dancing.
I was bored as well and downloaded the benchmark, that sure was cute..lol
Heading West, but Differenthttp://gematsu.com/2013/07/dragon-qu...estern-releaseDragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online executive producer Yuu Miyake teased an overseas release for the MMORPG in this week’s issue of Famitsu.
Already released in Japan on Wii and Wii U, developer and publisher Square Enix is porting the game to PC, leading many to wonder whether the game will leave Japan.
“Of course,” Miyake said when asked about a western release. “However, as for whether it’ll be run in the Dragon Quest style in the overseas market, every nation has its own play style and sensibilities, so I don’t think it’ll be a single game worldwide like with Final Fantasy XI.”
Famitsu also spoke with producer Yosuke Saito about the upcoming PC release.
“I’m sure a lot of people were surprised,” Saito told the Japanese magazine, “but the drive to release a PC version was there from the start of Dragon Quest X‘s development. The biggest reason was that, when thinking about which platform was most likely to be connected to a network, the PC was the first that popped into our minds.
“We also live in an era where there’s nearly one PC for every household, and for people who grew up with Dragon Quest, PCs have been a natural part of their entire lives. We figured it wouldn’t seem unnatural.”
Dragon Quest X launches for PC in Japan on September 26.

I'm not surprised that they want to do different versions for each market, but it is a bit disappointing. It is a bit worrying when they talk about it not being run in the DQ style, hopefully they don't do something silly like totally change the art style/gameplay. Overall I'm just glad that they want to bring it out of Japan at all.
I don't know as much as I like the DQ series, I've always found a number of things about this game oddly strange overall about this game. This doesn't really help that sentiment much for me.
I'm not really even sure how to react to that interview. "Not run in the DQ style" is such a bizarre comment that I can't really infer much from it. The only thing I can guess is that they're talking about potentially overhauling the combat and flow of the game to suit other audiences while keeping the same aesthetic, but I guess the question at that point would be why? Seems like an awful lot of money would have to be spent in order to mold the gameplay of a not terribly popular in the west franchise into something that would still only appeal to a niche market.
It's called westernization Term that has been thrown around when Aion and Tera were releasing, but didn't actually mean much aside of some changes to quests, lol.
I think we both know that's a pretty nebulous term that's been thrown around more often than not to describe changes to humor, or differences in translation. I can't really think of anything that'd fit the bill where a game has been completely overhauled on a mechanical level.
