They got paid!
They got paid!
Sono, I went to Orlando. The crowd really is a world apart. The most hype they got was HuK's win in grand finals, followed by IdrA's run through Korean hell. It was decent. A hell of a lot better than CoD and HALO, at least - they appeared to be on life support.
Don't know where you're going with the players in booths, although I understand why they do it (namely not hearing spectators and commentary blowing intel on your opponent).
EDIT: I think the most heartbreaking thing about it is towards the end, CanadaCup had 20k viewers. That was potentially 20k people being subjected to this. This is not going to be forgotten any time soon.

Maybe I should look into this stuff, apparently I can do a better job lol
Actually, someone posted an imagedump to my twitter account of spots where 720p failed. It's also in the CanadaCup thread on SRK. There were a lot of pictures.
What have we learned:
1. US is on JP level now in SF, subtract the bullshit Kazu/Momo/Daigo Yun play. Justin's matches were all his loss by dropping Ultras, not the other player winning. Ricky can hang with anyone. Krone/Latif are just as good, if not better than most of them. Champ can take any of them that aren't playing Yun.
2. Europe is trash as usual, no matter how much they like to say or think otherwise.
3. YO KRONE IS GODLIKE. Best performance by an American EVER.
I can't wait for LiveOnThree Wednesday for Slasher to try to backtrack, only for Scoots and Wheat to eat him alive. He rode Europe and Canada's dick all weekend.
I was reading twitter earlier, JPs watching the stream were definitely in awe of Wolfkrone when he went on that run against top tier Japanese pros not once, but TWICE.
If I wanted Sp00ky to come stream, after the DHS incident, I would ask for a list of the gear he needs that way he can just travel and go.
Yea its expensive, but I'm sure the community would be more then happy to help, especially how stacked the roster was for this tourney.
Just for reference, when I was watching on my TV, in 720P+
Forgive me for being retarded:
Are you just hooking your pc up to your tv or is there another way to stream it there?
My guess is he hooked his PC up to his TV via HDMI.
Hooked up to laptop with HDMI out, PC is a bit too far and I don't have an HDMI wire that long I'm not super anal on quality, but it was pretty decent for watching from TV, but it definetly could've been better.
Im pretty sure MLG anaheim was bigger than orlando, and I dont even think MLG is as big as a lot of the korean venues and their massive tournaments. From what dole told me canada cup is a major tournament along the lines of evo and sbo.
Players in booths means they are purposefully keeping certain aspects of the game quiet. In the FGC its about the hype of hearing the people cheer you on, or going nuts when there is something huge. How much of a psychological factor goes on when you get beaten by something and not only do you have to deal with losing but also with that crowd reminding you how bad you lost. I would lose my shit for any games after that if I got blown up and had a crowd go nuts on it.
thank you based jdownloader

This is why Wong/Daigo/etc are so good. They can phase that shit out and beat some ass the very next round. Most people do get affected by the crowd, and most ppl play significantly worse in tourneys compared to casuals.
Momochi switched from Yun to Cody at tournaments just to win over the crowd and not have the constant Boos.
As for Canada Cup, yes, it is a major. Is it close to EVO? Not a chance. CC had like 200 some competitiors, and EVO has thousands for just SF. As far as top level competition goes, Canada Cup just set the bar for the best playerskill at a tournament.
Let's be real though, Momochi never needed Yun to begin with, lol.
