matt kemp had a pretty solid year in CF actually.

I'm not saying the guy is terrible, but he's been a consistently average to below average fielder, and this year was no different. He got a lot of highlight play because he's the one of the only bright spots on an otherwise shit team and his offensive numbers were so good. Same reason Braun was a LF GG finalist. The idea he's a better defensive CF than someone like Carlos Gomez is completely absurd.

And yet, in that short time he had 16 defensive runs saved above average, compared to Matt Kemp's full season of...1 defensive run saved above average.

If you wanna go with "qualifying players" then go Chris Young - 6 defensive runs saved above average, UZR of 14.1 (compared to Kemp's 1 and -4.7)

He's AL though, GG is NL and AL separate.

And that further proves my point, 22 DRS was tops in the AL...Carlos Gomez had 16 in 1/3rd the games.

Rick Ankiel had 16 DRS and a 6.9 UZR...anyway, the point is Kemp is pedestrian defensively and there are a number of CFs that eclipse him in every defensive stat, but since they didn't have great offensive seasons or star power they get snubbed.
