Proposal rejected. Union scheduled to decertify and file ainti-trust charges against the league. Doubt there is a season of any kind now. Depends on how much hardball both sides are going to play.

Yeah, it's not looking good. If they cancel the season, how does next years draft work?

i doubt it'll be random order. there's too many elite prospects in the coming draft for losing teams to just throw things in the air.

that said i don't think they'll just use last year's order either. i'm guessing something like an average of the past couple years will be the most equitable.

Id like to see them go for a full weighted lotto and just reverse order for round 2. Itll be great when Toronto somehow ends up with the last pick in round 1.

Random would be cool. Spurs might get a top 10 that way.

Hunter said the NBPA was in the process of converting to a trade association and that all players will be represented in a class-action suit against the NBA by attorneys Jeffrey Kessler and David Boies -- who were on opposite sides of the NFL labor dispute, Kessler working for the players, Boise for the league. That lawsuit has yet to be filed.

"The fact that the two biggest legal adversaries in the NFL players dispute over the NFL lockout both agree that the NBA lockout is now illegal and subject to triple damages speaks for itself," Kessler said in an email to The Associated Press. "I am delighted to work together with David Boies on behalf of the NBA players."

I can't wait for the fan revolt. Welcome back to 1994, player's unions and managers.

One way I read that the draft could work is similar to how the NHL handled it, checking several criteria over the last 3 years for a team and determine their draft spot.

Idk how they went almost 2 months during the summer without meeting though, decertifying at this stage is dumb. Should have just followed the NFL's footsteps, decertified, negotiate after while the lockout/lawsuits were pending. Gonna end up with a 10 game season at this point.

Like I said, say goodbye to Duncan, KG, Nash, Kidd and maybe Kobe.

Don't worry, the players will give in eventually.

Now that they're missing paychecks, their massive child support payments will catch up to them and they'll cave in to the owners.

Deal will get done by the first or 2nd week of Jan.

That's what the lawsuit is for. Triple damages will cover a lot of baby mama drama.

I notice a lot of people pointing the finger at the players. Why is that? Do you guys think the owners deserve a $1.1 billion bailout because a few of them have had shitty business practices? This is a lockout, not a strike. This is owner imposed. I understand that "some" NBA teams are losing money but to try to force the player to go from 57% to 50% is a huge hike. And the ultimatum tactics Stern presented aren't helping. Professional Leagues (across all sports) needs to realize that small market teams need success to become profitable. It's a risk the owners know and they took a gamble trying to sustain a franchise there. Why should the players hand over $1.1 billion a year to bail them out? They want to gamble with their own money, but if they start losing, they want to have the debt covered by someone else. That's not how gambling works.

I think teams should get punished for their GMs making stupid decisions. That's what it ultimately comes down to. The teams that are in trouble right now will probably always be in trouble because teams that don't do well have attendance problems and that gets exacerbated in small markets. Maybe it's also an argument for contraction because we have a lot of irrelevant expansion teams in markets that can't sustain them, especially in times of incompetence.

And seriously, it at least releases Blake Griffin to play for a team that could one day be relevant.
