Shit ton of pancakes at Whataburger = 6 pancakes, shit ton of ketchup at McDonalds = 6 packages. These numbers don't seem right with your scale but there has to be something to this shit ton measurement. Results were replicated by 2-3 Whataburgers/McDonalds at different locations, it really is odd.

Noun:
A set of two things used together or regarded as a unit.

Couple and pair don't really mean the same thing though.

"Pants" is the name of the unit of clothing you wear on your legs. A couple pants is a couple units of clothing you wear on your legs, therefore, 2 pairs (or 3, depending on how casually you are using the term 'couple').

this is how I got confused as a child, my reasoning was

"a few rhymes with two and a couple's a crowd"

I'm p. sure I made that up at my 3rd grade lunch table.

That is also how I later learned not to give a shit about this; if being specific is important I say a number, otherwise fuck it, everything's relative
