We have an update on Thor 2, thanks to Loki himself. Tom Hiddleston spoke recently with Empire Magazine, and revealed some details about when and where production would start on the sequel. Here is what he had to say:

I have no idea. And without revealing too much, there's a specific skill set you need to be Loki's army - let me know if you have the qualifications. And all I know about Thor 2 is that we're supposed to film it in London in the summer and that it's being directed by Alan Taylor.
Thor 2 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 15, 2013. Luckily fans will be able to see Hiddleston as Loki in The Avengers on May 4.

Yep, but we don't know how they get to the point of them needing a Thor 2.

Or why we need a 2nd thor since the first one was awful; in the same line first Hulk was awful and second was decent, Hollywood gonna Hollywood.

I remember people kept recommending it in the last good movie thread, but it was horrible.

Fuck off, Thor was better than BOTH the Hulk movies. Don't even compare it to the first.

Honestly I'm happy I sat down, torrented, and watched Thor on my computer. I thought it was pretty decent and I laughed at a part or two. Hulk was one of the worst movies ever.

I think we have already found best post of the year here people.
Also Loki is a great actor and I am excited to see a villain finally being fleshed out over multiple movies. Besides magneto in the x-men films.

Plus comic book movies are made for sequels. People crying about a 2nd Thor are ruhtardo.

Here's a quick little news update on the production of Marvel's Thor 2. Marvel Studios has hired Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat to take a crack at rewriting the script for Thor 2, which is being directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones).

The movie is set to go into production this year, and Disney plans to release it in the summer of 2013. There aren't many details on this highly anticipated comic book sequel yet, but we know it will dive more into the mythology of the nine realms.

This first Thor was a good little superhero action movie. The action was good and the acting was good. The story was simple but obviously just an introduction to the series. It wasn't a Batman obviously, but it was acceptable. I'll look forward to this movie.

In a recently interview with MTV Jamie Alexander confirmed that we will see her character Sif in Alan Taylor's Thor 2. She is currently in discussions, which is good to hear. I like the character Sif, but I'm really hoping to see Enchantress make her big screen debut.

Here's what she had to say when she was asked where she would like to see the character go...

I'm a comic book nerd at heart, so I'd like to see the relationship between Thor and Sif progress. Whether or not they do that, we're not sure yet. We'll see. I think that element will be in there, but I don’t know how much.
Yeah, she just wants to have a nice little love scene with Chris Hemsworth. When asked if we would see Sif in The Avengers she said...

Sometimes you never know. It'll be funny - they'll call you and they'll do a post-credits scene and you go, 'Oh, so everything I said in interviews is completely wrong.' So you never know!
She goes on to talk about Alan Taylor being hired to direct the film...

We just got Alan Taylor from 'Game of Thrones' to direct, so I'm very excited. I'm excited to see what he brings. ['Game of Thrones'] is great. The style and the lighting and the tone of it, everything about it is so unlike anything you see on TV these days.

He's got a great history of directing comedic bits and action bits, and that's something our movie definitely has.
