Star Wars: Underworld (Live-Action TV series)

Basically, it is like The Godfather; it’s the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it’s a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution.
Red Tails producer Rick McCallum recently gave an interview in which he may have revealed the title to the live-action Star Wars TV series currently in development. Are you ready for what it's being called? OK...

    Star Wars: Underworld

I guess that title is a good fit for what we know of the show so far. The last we heard there were 50 one hour scripts that have gone through three drafts. McCallum previously described the sci-fi drama as being like The Godfather, with mob bosses and bounty hunters, which makes the Underworld aspect of the title make sense.

It's going to be 3 or 4 years before we see this series released, but I'm excited as hell to see it happen. I love the concept, and if done right with limited involvement from George Lucas it could be extremely cool.

no Kate Beckinsale in latex with a lightsabre?

I always thought that Star Wars would translate really well into a TV series ala the Battlestar Galactica reboot. Personally I think the storyline from the X-Wing series of books would be perfect for that kind of thing. Oh well, hopefully Lucas keeps his grubby little gungan flippers off it as much as possible, so it actually has a chance at not sucking.

yeah, the x-wing books made into a series would be perfect, you could even have mark hammil show up (or even harrison ford if you paid him enough) and it wouldnt look out of continuity since its set so much later in the timeline, a little digital touchup and everyone looks good

The first X-wing book is pretty much right after Ep VI iirc, so maybe not right away but later on sure. Would totally be amazing to see it pulled off well ala BSG, but i highly doubt it will ever happen since Lucas is on a prequel kick.

    This is awesome.

Be cool if they made Deathtroopers into part of the plot. it fits right in with the whole underworld theme of the series.

not to mention would satiate the public hunger for all things zombie.

He said most of the cost comes from there being so many cgi characters...
Why don't they just uh not film the tv show entirely on a green screen and with MoCaps and do some practical shit.

except Avatar was a movie with a 25billion dollar budget which is pretty far away from a tv show with a 1mil budget.

either way, no matter how it's made, a Star Wars live action tv series will suck ass.

    25 billion dollar budget?

Wikipedia says 240 million and around 3 billion in box office revenue.

Rick estimated the cost to be $5mil per episode & they have 50 episodes already written up. $250 million budget, I think George and co can handle that.

I hope this is good. What is the timeline on this series supposed to be? Prequel or sequel to the original movies?

I really wish someone would turn Robotech into a live-action TV series too. There was talk of a movie a few years ago, but it should be a series.

Time line I'd like to see is between 3 and 4. Vader hunting down Jedi.
