I wouldnt call it filler though. I found the issue to be exciting, epic. Maximus was hilarious, then Sinister switches sides, then the Thor Corps come into play, then Apocalypse joins the fun and out of nowhere BOOM, hellicarrier full of Hulks. Not to mention T'Challa gathering his army of the dead.

Secret Wars # 7 was effectively only half of the story. The script ended up too long and it was split between 7 & 8, which is why an extra issue was added.
