i was on an "avoid MSG" kick for a while and it made a huge difference in my crohn's- a difference that did not change when i re-introduced MSG. so i think it was just the heavily processed garbage that i was cutting out, and MSG itself was just a correlated occurrence.
so now i have MSG with my home-made food and it is delicious and doesn't bother me. unless i'm so sick that everything bothers me.
MSG is great. Use it sparingly but definitely use it! It adds mucho umami.
Um, dont reuse the ziplock bags. Someone mentioned it above, but don't do it. Just throw em out.

yeah everything I've read says that MSG mania is much like GMO mania - aka health-nut silliness that is not borne out by studies. looking forward to trying it tonight
that aside, y'all need to get on the furikake train. Japanese seasoning that consists of nori, sesame, and other random stuff depending on flavor (I got a dried shrimp variety). so good on pretty much anything savory, and makes a bowl of rice into a delicious meal
so yesterday I added that MSG to my food for the first time and holy hell it really works. like, 1/4 teaspoon for an entire bowl of seasoned rice and suddenly I'm in flavor heaven. I didn't really believe all the stories people told about what it does but shit is fucking gold, it's going on all my savories from now on
Made one of my late mom's desserts that she made for special occasions or for friends she really liked - Espasol. Pain in the ass to make but it came out just fine.
Also made the evaporated milk from scratch to make this batch vegan. It was a bit runny because I didn't reduce it enough. Still tastes delicious.
Homemade evaporated soy milk. Dough was a bit more runny than usual because I had to eyeball the 60% water reduction whereas canned evaporated milk is standardized.
