I never got an e-mail. ><
Just a few comments on how the first 25 levels have changed.
You get a survey every level now. Notable items were:
- two sets of 10 each +50% EXP Amulets (1 hour duration, 1 hour recast)
- A god damn free gold weapon @ level 25
- two half sets of green gear which were better than pretty much anything else I could get
- Shit tons of Greater Running Scrolls and Greater Courage Scrolls
Edit: Been leveling mostly with crafting so I don't know if questing has changed any
The free gold weapon at 25 is a single weapon, exactly the same as a standard world-drop gold weapon, but obviously untradable; in addition, this weapon is only usable up to level 39. Once you hit level 40, you MUST find another weapon to use. So, yes, Fire Temple. Or do Kromede's Trial and hope you get lucky while you're 38 and 39.
Or have a master crafter alt and make yourself an expert/balic weapon
That's good to know. Got it right before I went into work and didn't look at the description.
I have to admit this all has me kinda intrigued and semi-interested. Sucks that I know how it will all be in the end though. Can't let Aion tug on these heart strings anymore... unless I had some cool people to play with like once a week... gah! Get out of my head Charles!
Reinstalling here since why the fuck not. Might make a new guy but not sure where to roll.
Israphel elyos obviously.
As I said in another thread, I'm in a legion on Zikel with some high level people still floating around. Helpful, friendly, well educated, and just dying for people to come back to Aion and play with them. I haven't been on much so I'm not sure just how active it is, but I fully expect it to be buzzing when 3.0 goes live.
My gladiator is on zikel asmo. Maybe I'll move it over some time.
Playing on Nilsine on Israphel right now, I don't want to be alone so be my frend pls. :'(
I'm only level 7 right now and I can't even talk to other people until 11 with a trial account.
If you have a high level friend you can blow through 1-10 in about 20 minutes (especially if they are a gladiator). The mentor system can be ripe for abuse.
Honestly I don't know whether I want to play a Glad or Chanter, what are Chanters like end game?
Chanter = bard pretty much if I remember correctly.
Bah I always thought they were capable of decent DPS and did well in PvP.
Well they do melee and can heal so I'd imagine so.
A pure dps spec chanter with impeccable pvp gear can be really brutal, but anything less is noncompetative. I would not recommend chanter for pvp. PvE, now, they are quite good at and in high demand. If you wanna pvp, glad cleric ranger, spiritmaster if you wanna be cheap. I love SMs in pve though, way underestimated. Dispelling is really useful.
If you're looking to PVP then Gladiator end game is pretty hard to argue with if you can get it geared out (which the PVP arena expediates the process a lot). Chanter can be competitive, but it's a lot harder because you need some serious gear to make up for the natural weaknesses in the class. I've been told by people who work at NC Soft that Chanter is getting some nasty upgrades at 3.0 and will be much, much, much better. A friend of mine who has a 55 Ranger fully decked out in Magic Resistance armor is leveling a chanter for 3.0. I always have fun with my chanter in the PVP arena, but even with my gear it can be a pain in the ass. A lot of classes can faceroll me. Gladiator is way more fun in group PVP unless you're okay with being pretty much pure support/backup healing. Nobody brings out a chanter in group PVP to dish out damage.
In PVE chanter is one of the most sought out (and least played) classes in the game. You can get into anything you want playing chanter and if you're good at it, it's easy to find groups who will want you exclusively. I was my legions top chanter for a long time because I played the class like a hybrid. I did as much DPS I could without ignoring my support and healing duties.
