Sounds like you're talking about their Codex battleground. I have mixed feelings about that map, but it's usually rooted in people being fuckwits about holding/capturing points.

Oh and in case you aren't a Guild Wars 1 veteran... How you synchronize your emotes..

If some people are sync emoting already, can you jump in the middle of it and still sych up?

The technical know-how side of my brain says "probably not." Would be cool, though.

Codex was the worst map to do solo but also the most fun map to do in a group.

AOC had something similiar; the same key presses that resulted in combos could be used for dances to do different strings in the dance. Was pretty cool.

I think that Archeage has something like that, but it's like an actual dance mode that you enter and you can do different dance moves.

Nah, the sync only works if you use the emote within the 5 second window.

Yeah Codex, I really enjoyed the mechanic, especially after years of Arathi Basin. Rift did a few "new" things with existing game type mechanics that made the initial Battleground PvP style enjoyable. Even WoW is now stealing from Rift with their new Black Garden-esque BG in MoP. Yes the "hold the item in this area" mechanic has been used before in games like Warhammer, but Rift did it best.

I know the reasoning why Anet decided to only do Conquest style maps. It is easier to focus the game from an eSport point of view. When you can have a camera focusing on/near the 3 Conquest areas, its a heck of a lot easier to cast the match. However, the "ball" play style is equally as easy. I am looking forward to them adding in more game types, such as the Black Garden style or a variation on it such as the Hutball style in the future. I doubt we will ever see a pure CTF game again merely because of the difficulty it has with the eSport casting community. I would love to see a return of a Jade Quarry style map though.

I thought Mourkain Temple was a pretty good WAR murderball map.

I actually preferred Tol Anroc. But that was probably because Warhammer PvP was dominated by knockbacks and that Scenario had the most fun way of killing people by knocking them into the lava and sniping them to get the kill when the lava had gotten them low.

Murderball is one of the better map mechanics. I still believe that Black Garden's extremely small focus area led it to be a much better game than Mourkain or Tol Anroc or any of the other Murderball maps we've seen. The central focal point made it much more fun. Instead of having to take the ball back to your base for more points, it just made for a better experience imo.

I hated Tol Anroc for that exact reason lol. My silly marauder had no knockback.

Just thought I'd show myself off a bit, I am in-fucking-love with the whole dying system, I know, I know so much more to the game but I love how you can personalize everything to your own taste. I fucking love the body armor I have right now Probably a boring palette of colors to most people but the one peeve I do have about the dying what-not is the vibrant colors are way over the top vibrant to the point you just look like a block of color walking around it completely washes out any detail. I have decided to keep to a more realistic leather pallete just my own personal preference I guess, just looks waaaay better.
