My sister was in New York City at the Natural History Museum on a field trip years back and my mother was a chaperone. My sister was filling out a paper while my mom was just hanging out and who turns the corner? Bill Nye himself. So my mom is kinda starstruck and just kinda weakly says hi. She tugs at my sister, "Chelsea, look," and Chelsea turned, looked, went all wide eyed, and belted out, "Holy shit, it's BILL NYE!" This sparked Bill to run past her and jump into an elevator that had just open, spin around, throw his hands out, and yell, "SCIENCE!" as the doors closed. True story.

This is fantastic. He also designed a sun dial for the Mars missions that they used for color calibration.

Plus, he wears a fucking bowtie.
