rant
Would love a requirement of at least one image per post in this thread.
I've never cared if people want to discuss/vent/question pictures, but at least take another minute to post an image with it.

Because the govermnent, in a roundabout way, mandates that you tip people in order to pay their salaries. You and I are protected by minimum wages and I'm sure we're both above that line, hence we don't need to be tipped to do our job. Meanwhile, someone somewhere managed to get laws passed that ensured restaurants and other tip based services could keep their prices listed as low as possible (to give the illusion of lower prices) by offloading the act of paying someones salary onto you via tipping. You aren't tipping the pizza boy or your waitress ... you're trying to get them back to minimum wage or hopefully higher.
I was a pizza guy for a couple years. Compared to the stories I hear, I think I was somewhere in the middle. I made $8/hr, and I got 75% of the $2.50-3.50 delivery charge (ghetto got charged more). I didn't get reimbursed for gas though, and we had something like a 4 mile delivery radius with a few stray regulars who were out a bit further. We also went to some "bad" neighborhoods that nobody else went to, though there were a few that even we wouldn't touch. It was just a little family-owned place, so we didn't get a huge amount of deliveries. We usually got by with 2-3 drivers on a weekend and 1-2 on weekdays.
I've made up to $150 in tips on a weekend, but the normal was closer to $60. On weekdays, I felt good if I went home with $30. I filled up my tank about twice a week, though I drove a huge car that only got like 15 mpg.
I made enough to pay my cheap ass rent (like under $300/month for most of the time I lived there), my cell phone (like $90/month), my car insurance (like $60/month), put gas in my car, and live mostly on fast-food and pizza. Of course, for most of that time, my only form of entertainment was FFXI, which is actually an extremely cheap hobby if it's all you do. When I was getting over 30 hours a week, I could also put aside about a hundred bucks a month. It would have been a lot more if I'd gone grocery shopping instead of eating out all the time.
An average tip (when I got tipped) was $3. A decent tip was $5. A good tip was anything more than that. I pretty much never got tipped in the ghetto (which accounted for about half of our orders), or from nursing homes (there were like 5 of them that ordered from us). There were also about 10 bars within 3 blocks of the shop that we got a lot of orders from (no delivery charge for them). Before the economy tanked, I would regularly get tipped $5 a trip for walking the order within site of the store, but for the last year or so I worked there, it was usually only a buck or two.
Personally, I won't even order pizza unless I can tip at least $5. I also tip well at restaurants and when I get a haircut.

I dunno about a requirement, but it would be nice if people did it anyway.

They're correct for figure 2
True... we're still apes. Also Figure 7 is wrong, since dinosaurs are still around.
