Can't believe people budget their gas for the month. Good for you if it helps financially. I'd be driven fucking nuts personally.

I have pretty tight finances, so I budget just about everything, including a small allotment for savings. I make exactly what I need and I do have a little extra for myself, but I need to know where my money is going.
For future reference Aks, it should never, ever, ever take more than a few hours to do anything tire related. If it does, something has gone seriously wrong or they are dicking you around because you are a woman. In every major city I have been to there are multiple tire shops. Almost as many as there are McDonalds. Don't let anyone pull the "not-in-stock" bullshit either. Unless it is a super special BFG9000 custom order part, they can get it same day, or next day if it is late in the day. This should not apply to tires though. You can find a match for your car even if the tread pattern is different or it says a different company name on the tire. Dealerships and parts stores have parts runners on staff to deliver parts as needed to other stores or to pick up from the distribution center.
In short, don't go back there. You should not have been without your vehicle for more than a few hours for a tire problem.
Ace is 100% correct. You got hosed. Most tire joints can get you back on the road in an hour or two. Fuck, Sam's Club replaced all four of my tires in the time it took me to go grocery shopping there(roughly 40 minutes.)
Well then that's my fail.
I've done business with them for quite a while so it was natural that I just went to them for this. Will think twice next time.
I always go to Les Schwab for tires. They are fast and have great service. Plus their tires come with a great warranty. And they will switch my truck from winter to summer tires and back for free.
Last time I had my tires done, I went to a Goodyear Certified Tire. They were short two tires for what I wanted and they sent a runner to a store 15 miles away to grab a pair so I could get all 4 done the same day. Even with that delay I was done in about 3 hours including alignment being redone on my car. 0% loan for six months was also nice for signing up with there card.
with our toyotas we've been going to the dealership, but with our old menagerie of cars sam's club always did a good job on mine and my parents' cars.
This entire page makes me dread the day my dad and a couple of his best friends in the industry retire from auto body & mechanic work.
Swapped my 4-12 shift on Saturday with a coworker for her 12 am - 8 am shift this morning.
So I'm working from 4 pm Monday until 8 am Tuesday morning. I also just received a summons for court Tuesday morning at 8:30.
If I skip court I get suspended, if I goto court I get suspended for working 3 shifts in a row.
Fuck this
My voice sounds like Stephen Hawking this morning.
Hate using a sick day for an actual sick day.
We shall see, the summons is dated for December 11th after all. Haha
Not exactly fail, but...
KidRobot now has a Series 2 of the Futurama figures. Now I don't have them all. Entirely appropriate:
Same here, and my cars are paid off so while I don't have a warranty, I bank all that cash I'd be laying out on two car payments, and still fix everything for a fraction of the price of taking it to a shop. (Except tires and alignment, I don't have the setup for that in the garage. yet.)
Yeah tires and alignment I bring to a friends shop. The equipment is extremely expensive, and the job itself is not all that expensive or frequently needed. I think I pay $50 for the alignment, and $50 to mount the tires. He charges regular customers $75-$100 for the alignment and $20/tire for the mounting+balancing.
I really do need a new mechanic friend down here. I had one, we were dating for over a year so it was really convenient. However, when he cheated on me I stopped all contact with him and requested he do the same. My boyfriend now can probably manage as many car repairs as I can, lol. I've asked around here and there but I haven't found anyone that I trust yet. So I'll just have to dealwithit when it comes to mechanics.
I also need mechanic friends. Car in for its first servicing right now - curious how bad the damage is at this VW dealer.
German.... Good luck with that shit lol. Dealerships also have, by far, the highest labor rates you will find. The Mazda dealership here charges $90/hr, the shop my buddy runs (who routinely builds 800+HP cars for clients)..... charges $75/hr lol.
Also, good way to find a good mechanic. Ask a friend that has a sporty vehicle or one you know does work on their own car. I will almost guarantee you they will have a close friend with a shop that they can vouch for. Us car people network like you wouldn't believe lol. It won't get you 50% discounts on service, but it will at least get you into a shop that you know won't dick you around.
