Ref was the same ref that missed a call that cost punk a match back during the replacement ref storyline; the one that Heyman tried to get to resign. That same ref was calling this match, and gave Ryback a low-blow during his finishing Shellshocked, then made a quick count for Punk's victory.
Ryback then beasted them, but the lame damage was done.
Yeah Brad Maddox was the name of the ref. Seems like a really last minute how the hell do we keep the title on Punk and not have him cleanly beat Ryback decision.
He's the new big show? lol
Not sure how they can progress the storyline at this point, but meh.
What a fucking weak ending
Scripted or no, I wouldn't want to see that ref working again. That's just not something you do and expect people to get over it like maybe counting the wrong guy's shoulders or both. It also gives me some WCW/NWO vibe where I think it was Niel Patrick or some ref that basically wound up in NWO's pocket. NWO was actually likeable, though, unlike anything Heyman shits out.
Theres a reason they had THAT ref do that, and your response only enforces what WWE was setting out to do.
That reminded me of the McMahon v EH feud when Jericho won the title with the APA watch guarding.
No it has to do with the fact he cost punk a match so he returned the favor, most likely to keep his job as Heyman probably intimidated him with a lawsuit or some other cheesy heelish tactic.
Well, I'm of the mind there'd be a more subtle way to go about it than literally attacking the competing wrestler. Like accidentally getting hit by Punk's foot when he spun him around, delaying the fall and giving Punk time to recover. Trumped law suit or no, a ref doing that in any other sport would get them canned. Then again, maybe my fault is trying to find some realism in the fantasy.
Fast counts, sure, particularly from guest refs. I can't recall the last time a ref literally attacked the wrestler, much as I always LOL at the absurdity of wrestling crotch uppercuts.
Hey guys lets judge everything about this before the ref explains his reasons on Raw tonight.
It was the only way they had of having put Ryback in the championship match so soon. No one would've been happy if Ryback just smashed Punk and took the title (the way he's been booked you can't have an even match) and no one would've been happy if Punk beat Ryback clean. Let's at least wait and see how they explain it.
Miss anything worth talking about in the first 40m of Raw?
Survivor Series: Team Foley v Team Punk. I didn't see the shit before that.
Well the first round up was a boring team.
Yeah, basically repeating this PPV's matches. Yawn.
What the hell? They just took this PPV's matches and put em together in a big cesspool. Blah fuck this.
