Cody is an A+ promo and has been doing absolutely stellar character work, but his actual in ring work hasn't been all that great. That's fine for WWE, but with how much more emphasis the rest of the wrestling industry puts on workrate it's not ideal.

He just doesn't really seem to have any chemistry with... anyone. Maybe he's just too ingrained in the WWE style to necessarily mesh with the rest of the wrestling world.

Well put. It's not even that they're bad matches. They're just so mediocre, surrounded by far better matches, and often in plac of things that there should be higher expectations of. I thought and hoped that Dominion against Elgin would have been when it finally clicked, but nope. The last prominent Elgin match that I can remember not being at least "good" was WK10 against Lethal, and that was just such an ill-conceived match that was going to be a disaster. Will Okada be able to deliver this mythical great Cody match? I'm hoping so, for all parties involved.
