If anyone remembers Namco X Capcom, this is apparently pretty much the same style of gameplay.
The Smash Bros of RPGs maybe? That's a lot of companies to stuff into a game!

Few details
Joining the new character reveals, details on a couple of Project X Zone gameplay systems have surfaced from Famitsu. The magazine details the game's Support Attack and Cross Hit systems.
Support Attacks are special attacks from your fellow party members. If another unit is in the vicinity (around 8 spaces) of your current unit, you'll be able to trigger a Support Attack from the other unit. The support unit will perform a followup attack which can only be used once in battle.
Cross Hit is related to Support Attacks. During a Support Attack, if the main unit and support unit strike the enemy simultaneously, you'll trigger a Cross Hit move. The enemy will freeze where the Cross Hit was performed, and you'll be able to more easily perform combos following this.
What is Japan's obsession with the word "cross"? They use it in every game, now.
It's so... cross! I think Ono explained it for SFxT as like... they aren't really against each other, so it's not versus! It's more cross!
I know! At first I would just raise my eyebrow, but good God, it really is in everything now. Half the time they follow it with something unintelligible, like Cross Dream or Cross Pulse.
they love that cross. just like the cross button on playstation that we all call the X(ecks) button lol
Spoiler: show
