    Hamlet Defense Info

Just starting to compile any known information about Hamlet Defense in Hyrstmill, so please submit anything you know~

    Supply Phase (50 hours)

    • During this phase, the Militia Quartermaster NPC accepts 3 different gathered items and 8 different crafted items (1 for each DoL and DoH). There is an unknown cap for how many they accept during each supply phase. Turning in items rewards you with Anima and bolsters the hamlet's Supply Rating by +1,000 per item turn-in (+10,000 per HQ item turn-in).

(note: Kidney Ore/Spruce Branches/Indigo Herring can only be delivered in chunks of 10. Any in excess of a multiple of 10 are returned to you.)

10 NQ gathered items or 1 NQ crafted item = 4 anima
10 HQ gathered items or 1 HQ crafted item = 6 anima

    • The higher a hamlet's Supply Rating is, the longer the supply crates can survive during battle, the stronger the attacking Ixali will be, and the more points you can earn by defeating them.

    • Each player's contribution during this phase is recorded and the top-20 players will be able to obtain a special reward if they participate in a winning battle during the next invasion phase.

    Requested Items and their locations/recipes:
    Spoiler: show

    Area: Nanawa Mines

    • You can also turn in any weapon with at least 1 piece of materia already attached (must be at 100% durability).

    Invasion Phase (25 hours)

    • To participate during 25-hour invasion period, you must group up in full parties of 8 (any combination of DoW/DoM/DoL/DoH) and speak to the Militia Captain to enter the instance where multiple waves of Ixali will attack the hamlet and its 4 supply carts (weapons/armor/medicine/food).

    • After a certain amount of time in the instance, an Ixali leader will appear and hate will get wonky based on their commands. Killing the leader or keeping at least one supply cart intact for the duration of the instance will yield a victory.

    - Winning will induce a 15-minute lockout before reattempting.
    - Losing will induce a 5-minute lockout before reattempting.

    Duties:
Disciples of War/Magic: Directly fight the invading Ixali, drawing them away from unarmed crafters/gatherers and protecting the 4 supply carts and NPCs from damage.

Disciples of the Land: Search around the hamlet to collect 3 different colored alchemical pots (which look like clay pots/wooden barrels/metal cannisters), and deliver them to the Militia Quartermaster. When 3 pots of the same color or one of each color have been turned in, it will initiate an enfeebling effect on all hostile targets and reset the colors/combinations already turned in. You will have to correspond with the DoW/M to see what effect they might want and correspond with fellow DoLs to turn in the correct colors for the preferred effect.

    Alchemical Pot Combinations:
    Spoiler: show

    All Red = Attack Down
All Blue = HP Down (DoT)
    All Green = Sleep
One of each = Enmity Reset

Disciples of the Hand: Search around the hamlet, collecting various crafting materials from crates, crafting them into finished items and turning them into the Militia Quartermaster. Delivering these items will immediately enhance your allies with an effect based on the type of item.

    Craftable Items and Effects:
    Spoiler: show

    CRP/BSM/ARM
Musked Pavis = Reduces Enmity of nearby Militia Soldiers
Spiked Pavis = Increases Attack Power of nearby Militia Archerss
Blessed Pavis = Grants Regen to all nearby Militia Laborers

Musked Decoy = Reduces Enmity of all nearby Militia Members
Spiked Decoy = Increases Attack Power of nearby Militia Archers
Blessed Decoy = Grants Regen to all nearby Militia Laborers
Reinforced Decoy = Increases Defense and Evasion of all nearby Militia Members

    ALC/CUL

Spiked Rations = Increases Attack Power of all Militia Members that consume one
Blessed Rations = Grants Regen to all Militia Members that consume one
Fortified Rations = Increases Defense and Evasion of all Militia Members that consume one

    - Supply cart icons represent the currently standing carts (weapons/armor/medicine/food) and their disappearance means they have been captured.
    - Flag icons represent the 3 lines of NPC defense and if they have been breached/defeated. The bar beneath them being the rate of enemy advancement.
    - Potion icons represent which alchemical pots have been turned in and to the right are currently active enfeebling effects.

    • After winning, speak to the Militia Captain to receive your payment. Victories will reward players with Anima based on the hamlet's remaining Supply Rating, as well as a chest with contents based on your score. Players who were in the top-20 ranking have a chance at earning the off-hand Militia tools.

Here is a list of some of the known post-battle bonuses:
    Spoiler: show

    - Eight Classes Represented (+30)
    - Only Disciples of War and Magic Present (+250)
    - Only Disciples of War Present (+500)

(I'm expecting bodies/boots/gloves/belts/more accessories to complete these sets in the future Thanalan/La Noscean hamlet defense events.)

    TL;DR

    • Supply Phase is 50 hours long and is just a crafting/gathering race for DoL and DoH to bolster the strength of the hamlet, lure a stronger attack on it, and try to rank high for bonus DoL/DoH rewards come Invasion Phase. Anima and Achievements are the only immediate rewards for this part.

    • Invasion Phase is 25 hours long, during which you can assemble a party of any type to enter an instance where you assist NPCs in fending off beastmen from attacking supply carts. DoW and DoM simply fight and protect carts. DoL rummage around for pots to turn in, which enfeebles mobs. DoH rummage around for crates to craft into items to turn in, which buffs allies.

    • Killing the leader or keeping your supply carts alive until the timer runs out = win. Rewards are based on your score, which depends on a lot of variables such as party setup, mobs killed, NPCs alive, etc. You will receive Anima as a reward for winning as well. (EXACT REWARD MECHANICS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN)

    • Crafters/Gatherers who place in the top-20 list during a Supply Phase have a chance at extra crafting/gathering goodies if they win only during the next attack.

Wait, you can only turn in one DoL item? That seems pretty low, I figured at least 10. Also, do you know if these quotas are for the whole server or per player?

Patch notes also mention DoM/DoW can do the caravan escort to help out during the planning phase. Can non-Adder players participate in this?

Thanks for starting this topic, it'll be very useful!

Translation: They'll only accept a single type of item per DoL. As far as I know, you can turn in as many as you please, and I've not heard anything regarding a quota.

It's not the "quota" (I don't think there is a cap at all), but each class only has one item to pick from to turn in (besides materia'd weapons).

    Yeah, maybe I'll reword that.

bow is 4 anima. also if you trade a item that completed a quota (no idea how since always says 1 of each) you are rewarded with a special bonus of 100 animas.

Have we seen the mechanics of how the militia items will be rewarded? (Drops/Rewards/Exchange?)

(I'm guessing not until the first combat phase.)

There's very little details, all I have gathered from NPCs and patch notes is:

    Loss:
    • 5-min lockout
    • No reward

    Win:
    • 15-min lockout
    • Anima reward based on remaining Supply Rating
    • ??? reward based on performance
    • ??? reward based on your placement in the top-20 list

The only revealed "performance" bonus examples are:

    - Eight Classes Represented (+30)
    - Only Disciples of War and Magic Present (+250)
    - Only Disciples of War Present (+500)
    - Job Crystals Equipped: 8 (+10)
    - Same Profession Selected by All Members (+500)
    - Beastmen Soldiers Dispatched: 17 (+10 each)
    - Beastmen Casters Dispatched: 9 (+10 each)
    - Total Beastmen Dispatched: 26 (+10 each)
    - Rank 1 Beastman Leader Slain (+500)
    - Militia Survivors: 10 (+100 each)
(the list can potentially be double this)

Then, there's a multiplyer, probably based on the "level" of the invading force. Lastly, there's a bonus based on remaining time, and it looks like the remaining mm:ss format translated straight into points.

It is currently unknown whether you get to stock up any points to spend later, but it looks unlikely. Perhaps you will simply be offered some items by the Militia Captain based on your rewarded points for that battle or the automatic loot will be entirely based on your score.

Sure thing! I'm just having obsessive compulsive formatting probs.

One note is that HQing Militia items to turn in is well worth it since a HQ crafted item will boost the Supply Rating by 10,000 instead of 1,000... which is what gains you ranks in the top-20.

I was wondering about that, I just turned in a bunch of bows to max out my Anima, all NQ though. Guess next time I'll work more towards HQ.

Yeah, it's one of those things where if you just want the Anima recharge, not really worth pushing for HQ since it's just a +50% Anima bonus (6 vs 4). However, if you're mostly trying to hit the top-20 chart, +900% Supply Ratting is a hefty chunk.

    For materia'd item turn in:

    Its 10 points per Item Grade (grade 5 = 41-50, grade 4 = 31-40 etc)
Then 1 point per tier materia

Ex. Iron Dolabra with Tier1 materia = 51 supply points

Havent tried double meld so unsure how that impacts this total.

15 min lockout is the suck. Mobs have pre-hate built on npcs so they will charge for them first. You can buff/cure/regen the NPCs.

Only reward we got was a bunch of expensive fireworks and 3 anima. Granted its only Lv 1 invasion.

Hmm, Durandal got to Lv.2, but all these fucking gathering bots knocked me from Rank-5 to not-on-the-list-at-all while I was away today. Pretty fucking irritating. Now I'm about to say fuck it and go to bed because I can't get an invite.

edit: Just got in one, all DoW/DoM. Definitely not very easy, the NPCs get raped incredibly fast by Lv.56 Ixali and it's damn near impossible to pull hate off of them. When the Ixali raid the supply carts, some of them give them buffs, and some give the allies debuffs. For example, the armor cart being raided gives allies decreased defense and evasion and the weapons cart being raided gives the mobs increased attack power.

edit: I just got to attempt as Fisher... Collecting potions is pretty slow, but they are all pretty near eachother and labeled on the map. Just mash enter to turn it in when you talk to the Quartermaster. Also, be careful about incoming mobs walking through the gate as they will rape your shit if they see you before any NPC. It definitely takes a little timing to maximize usefulness of debuffs like sleep or enmity reset.

1 of each color = enmity reset
all red (milk cans) = attack down
all blue (red clay pots) = heavy poison
    all green (barrels) = sleep

So basically it's as lame as the patch notes made it seem. Hopefully these are just limitations of pre-2.0, and not indicative of what they feel is quote "Large Scale PvE content". Still can't believe they advertised it that way and then spat out an 8 man instance.

Got ~23.5k a few times, then 29.5k, then 30.5k. Servers have a capped number of Hamlet Defense instances; you'll get an "Unable to enter due to server congestion" message in that case. Droprate on militia items seems pretty low; we got a lot of dark matter, some magicked prisms, and one militia barbut over 5 or 6 wins.
