So my mom's triple bypass surgery has turned into quintruple bypass surgery, and is 3 hours longer then I was told before the surgery began. Its going on like, right now.
How freaked out should I be?

Just be calm and have faith everything will turn out okay. Freaking out will get you nowhere and only make you crazy.
What he said. Close family friend has had 3 open heart surgeries. He's healthy now and all the surgeries have taken hours longer than normal
Yeah, all you can do is wait. I don't know the precise details of my grandmother's surgeries, but she basically had to go through 3 within probably as many days. Her heart's basically tissue paper now and they got her on some kind of drug to ideally plug leaks, but it's only a matter of time. The fact my grandfather died about a year ago hasn't really helped her motivation, either.
So, really, it's both on the surgeons and her. Not a comfortable place to be in, especially if you're close to your mom, but hang in there.
It's a very common surgery, you have nothing to worry about. This actually happens alot, intial testing didnt reveal full amount of blockage. I wouldnt be worried about it that much.
They charge by the hour, this is perfectly normal.
Happens pretty often with most surgeries. Get some coffee, take a walk, get a cigarette or whatever and relax.
Yes and no. my transplant was 5 hours even though I was told it'd be 8 to 14 hours.
they only put one lung into you obviously, check to be sure next time
I'd be dead if it was one Lung.
QUIT POSTING FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE
This is quite common actually, of the handful of people I know who have gone in for bypass surgery, every single one of them has had more than what they were told they would need. I'm no doctor but I'm guessing its one of those cases where the doctors are just making their best guess until they actually open the person up and get a look for themselves. You can't really do anything but wait. Worrying about it will only drag it out. Try to hit up the cafeteria and maybe it will be pancake day, at least then you can distract yourself for a blissful few minutes.
So... how'd it go?
Died, reanimated, killed OP, zombie outbreak begins obviously.
OP went to have a cig like someone said and got hit by an Ambulance, way to go with that advice you murderer.
