I swear to god if they force you to play the game like a shitty third person shooter instead of allowing multiple ways through the main missions, for which this game has the perfect premise for, I'm going to be sorely disappointed. Don't really care about the graphical issues in those trailers because lolconsoles.

My biggest concern is that this is going to be ubisoft's new Assassin's Creed -- a cool idea that gets marred by repetitiveness and franchise fatigue.

Annualization is a given, that's just how AAA works now. I'd be surprised if they didn't at least tease Watch Dogs 2 at this year's E3, once they're done showing another bullshottery trailer for The Division.

PlayStation-exclusive content trailer

Today, Ubisoft and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced that Watch Dogs, the highly anticipated open world action adventure title, will offer additional content only available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

The exclusive content includes four extra missions, representing one hour of exclusive gameplay, as well as a unique ‘White Hat’ Hacker Outfit. By playing this additional content, players will have a deeper knowledge of DedSec, a key and powerful faction in the Watch Dogs universe. Once complete, a Hacking Boost named Superior Capacity is acquired which gives players one additional Battery Slot.

The scenario takes place after Aiden Pearce, the vigilante hero of Watch Dogs, catches the eye of DedSec, a notorious hacker group fighting for freedom and security in the digital age. Aiden receives an encoded message asking him to help some members of this organization who want payback. Pearce must use his knowledge of Chicago’s complex ctOS network to discover digital vulnerabilities in Umeni Technologies’ security network and earn his reward.

We are pleased to also announce that Watch Dogs bundles for both PS4 and PS3 will be available for launch in Europe, which include all of the Sony exclusive content.

Watch Dogs did indeed benefit from the addition of extra content during its delay, Ubisoft has confirmed.

Responding to our report of changes to Watch Dogs’ Australian classification, Ubisoft issued the following statement:

“The entire development team has been working hard to polish and fine tune Watch Dogs in order to deliver a truly memorable open world game. In parallel, the extra time also allowed the team to include a bit of additional content.

“As per Australian classification guidelines, Ubisoft resubmitted the updated version with the added content to the Australian Classification Board (ACB). The decision to amend the rating of the game from MA15+ to R18+ was made by the ACB.”

No details of what the additional content entails were provided, but judging by the board’s new content guidelines, it was something to do with violence, sex and drug use.

Kotaku acquired a copy of the ACB’s report detailing a sequence involving sexual trafficking, which Ubisoft confirmed was added to the game post-delay. The scene implies sexual violence, which is not permitted under an MA15+ classification.

Watch Dogs has been rumoured to exist in the same world as Assassin’s Creed for some time now, and either this is actually Ubisoft’s intent or the publisher is messing with people for fun, but it appears that a new screen has stoked the fire a little.

It follows details of the Watch Dogs season pass, which includes a new playable character and more.

The icon on the bottom left corner of Aidan’s smartphone app has its title blurred out, suggesting that Ubisoft doesn’t want people to see what it is just yet.

That’s the symbol of the Assassin Order from Assassin’s Creed flipped around and imposed over the original image. Coincidence? Who knows?

It’s the claim of Reddit user Kurashu, who created the image above. It remains to be seen if the games are linked, or if Ubisoft’s just having some fun, but it’s a neat little discovery at any rate.

As pointed out in the comments, that is the icon for a character with a mouse head to mask his identity. It's also been mentioned that there already links between WD & AC within ACIV: Black Flag. We'll probably have to wait until more of WD's story gets leaked for any sort of confirmation.

I thought the shared world was already known, if you pay attention and dig around a bit in the modern day sections of AC IV once you have started hacking, they basically tell you that it is and that they need to get a special Chicago firm in to sort their IT security.

Probably the best price it'll be for ~8 months, but games like this tend to be crawling with awful bugs up to a month from launch so weigh it against that.

I have backlog as is but this game looks to be extremely fun. Last game I bought at launch was Last Of Us. I haven't paid over $12 for a game since so this would be a huge purchase for me!
