The pre-order codes that are being distributed for North America and Europe include instructions that they will be redeemed via a special website:
NA: http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/

This special site is not yet live for users to redeem the codes received from their retailer.
Once the code redemption for this site is live, scheduled for August 20, 2013, you will be able to enter the code you received that looks like: ABCDEF-###-ABCDEF-###

That will then give you all the instructions required to register your early access code.

In short, hang tight guys and don't panic!

So in resume

You cannot activate the Preorder till the 20, on the 20 you go on the EU or NA (depending your region) link and enter your 18char code to activate the preorder

But as for now if you want you can register the product if you go into the square-enix member site.

My inquietude is that i preordered PS3, and they gave me the code, but when i went to register it on the Square enix members they said it's a PC code.

I don't mind loosing PS3 head start but yeah I was still wondering

Thanks god i'm not the only one with that problem.

If i'm not mistaken, we'll need to registrer the preordered code on PSN, and the codes i've registered on psn before have a different format :S

Getting an "Unable to complete version check." Message when I try to load up beta. Anyone know anything? I'll look through the past few pages here but yea just got home.

Depends

If you have the Beta client phase 3 uninstall it it's not used anymore

Download beta 4 client on the SE website

You need a new client for ps3 too but it's not out yet

So I just went over my FFXIV account on the member website and apparently I've been registered and active on it since October of 2010. Active in the sense that I never canceled the service, not logged on >_>. Now having not followed any of the legacy stuff at all because I thought it didn't apply to me, I can help but wonder, am I a legacy member since I never actually canceled my account? Did I have to sign up for legacy status? I have no clue.

And in the odd chance that I am, does that mean I get early access?

If there is a meteor logo next to your service account then yes you are. And that grants you early access.

Not sure if it's been asked yet since the Live Letter and I know it's still early but, do ya'll think the game cards will work with Legacy status? Like, since we have to purchase at a store for a specific price we will be paying a higher fee than the $9.99?

Imo it would be stupid to buy a card if you have legacy status Cards will be the normal subs price (since Legacy subscription cannot be for anyone)

So you would pay normal sub for that card

I don't think a detailed announcement has been made at this time, best bet is to keep eyes on The Lodestone and Dev Tracker... Please look forward to it!

As for the codes I believe PS3 players will need two of them at the very least. One for PSN to download the new client and another for the SE account (20 digits) to unlock items and early access for it. If you only have one you'll likely need to put this into the preorder page on the 20th to receive the others.
