Does forum ban on OF equate to game ban as well?
Does forum ban on OF equate to game ban as well?
Then my question would be why?
Also Ice made an XIV windower, I thought most people knew about it considering so many people use his parser/logger. Can get it from his site.
I'm not too into the specifics, but there's a few reasons. Don't quote me on any of this stuff.
1) In fullscreen, your application can better sync with the refresh rate of the monitor (v-sync). This reduces visual tearing.
2) By being fullscreen, you essentially tell windows "Hey, don't worry about the graphical part of anything else that's running." so it uses up less resources.
There might be more things. I should know this stuff, but I'm pretty hazy on the details.
If I remember correctly, the big gain is that Windows no longer tries to run "background" visual tasks, like aero (including live thumbnails in 7) when a game is in true full-screen mode.
If Aero is effecting your game performance, then your computer isn't good enough to run FFXIV adequately anyway.
i have a question..
does anyone know if theres currently a way to resize the window of the game to like.. less than 720p width?
the highest screen res on my laptop is 1366x768, so 720 fits, but i like to keep my taskbar visible and with the window header, it doesn't fit unless i hide the taskbar each time i play it.
i'm also of the impression that if i reduce window size it might be slightly less taxing on my gfx card.
720p is as low a vertical resolution as the config displays, but if FFXIV is anything like FFXI, you can probably screw around in the registry to change it to a resolution not listed in the config. I wouldn't know where to look though (though I know how to find out, if no one else chimes in).
Got these today, I'm gonna make another body in the future and aim for 30'ish PIE, but there weren't many good III's available to double with so I did this instead.
Spoiler: show
Nice, that's great
Ok, since nobody has fielded this one, I looked further into it. It looks like the resolution is stored in the FFXIV's config.sys file.
What I have for you is.... bad news. I manually edited the file and set my resolution to 800x600, but when I opened FFXIV, my resolution was *drumroll* 1024x720. It seems that 1024 is the minimum width and 720 is the minimum height regardless of what you set it to. I could tell you how to change to a resolution not listed in the FFXIV config, but you won't be able to get below those two minimums without 3rd party tools, and once you get into 3rd party tool territory, there's no guarantee that it'll work correctly.
Do all the guildleves have this retarded ass mechanic where the last one flees halfway across the map, or are they only terroring low levels?
Thats part of the design for some of the leves. If you do manage to kill the one fleeing, the 2 that are suppose to pop still do.
sigh. thx.
maybe ill be forced to use a windower of sorts.. idk.
hopefully 2.0 will come with more gfx display options..
i guess its a bit ironic as well since i oversample using the registry method in FFXI but need to severely tone it down for XIV.
maybe i should try fullscreen mode.
I have quick question i was directed here but wasnt sure how to post. I had hermes sandles for my ff14 toon, i discontinued the game and came back last week and wanted to play with my friends. I made a new account and i got my 11 also going too so my brother can play on that. When i made my new account on 14 i didnt get my sandles but i got all the other r/e stuff from the collectors edition. am i screw on getting them again?
Once you recognize which leves these are, while you are fighting the last 2 mobs before they flee get one as close to death as possible, then switch targets to the other and once it's almost dead do an AoE to try to finish them both off. Then you can run straight to the spot instead of waiting on the (sometimes slow) mob to run there.
If you are lvl 30 go get a gobbue mount to help speed things up even more!
