Synopsis:

The Dark Knight Returns is set in a near future where Batman is retired and Gotham City has slid into a dystopian state ruled by a gang of hooligans called The Mutants. The 55-year old Bruce Wayne is forced to don the cape once more, this time partnering with a female Robin to not only stop the Joker but keep the peace when the city falls into chaos after being hit by an electromagnetic pulse.

Semi-related: I just watched the Year One animated film last night, and it was pretty solid and extremely faithful to the original story. Bryan Cranston was really good as Jim Gordon. Sad to see he's not reprising the role for this one. I didn't like Batman's voice, though, hopefully this one will be better.

Even less semi-related, but I highly recommend checking out Superman Vs The Elite. DC continues to put out great animated movies.

It's pretty difficult to beat kevin conroys voice acting for batman.

I'm pretty sure that Conroy and Hamill will always be the high bars for their respective characters.

It's a shame Kevin Conroy looks more like Norman Osborn than a Bruce- it would have been fun to see him play Batman.

Art style was a huge turn off for me, but the animation was crisp and the story was good. Overall I liked it, not loving the style of this but I'm sure it'll be good. I haven't seen an animated batman movie that has disappointed me yet.
