Sooner or later everything is going to click for Fowler I think.
no.
Hes not terrible anymore, but I wouldn't call him all-star talented at both ends of the ice. I'd call him "good / capable" or "top 4 quality" at both ends of the ice. You're letting your D-core go to your head. You got good D-depth, but you don't have 6 demi-gods patrolling your blueline.
OMG THERE'S A ROBOCROSBY?!
I think the market for a Malkin would be kinda crazy.
Look at what LOLumbus wanted for Rick Nash. If you tried scaling it out, Malkin would be worth 3/4 of a roster, plus picks
Avs trade makes the most sense (other than the fact that I think they don't have a couple 1st round picks courtesy of the Varlamov trade)
Malkin / O'Reilly is a good 1-2 combo at center for them, Statsny could also play center if the need arose. They always have good complimentary wingers in Galiardi, Mueller, and for a couple more years Hejduk. They'd probably have to talk Martin or Kennedy off us too though to help clear cap/roster room cause Malkin's 8.7m is eclipsed by the combined salaries of Johnson and Duchene IIRC (and thats if they don't throw in a bottom 6 guy as well).
If you do start looking into trading within the East (assuming no realigment), Carolina becomes an option - what if we brought Eric Staal here? Does Jordan stay at 3C if his brother is 2C? E. Staal / Jussi Jokinen / 1st rounder (likely a lottery pick)?
Would Buffalo give up Tyler Meyers / Thomas Vanek / 1st for Malkin? Would Tyler Myers / Vanek / 1st even be enough? Vanek's kinda getting up there in age, probably at least 30ish by now and Myers has regressed a little....
Buffalo won't give up Myers or Erhoff. They would trade Vanek, his contract is up in a couple years and I don't really think he's playing that great in Buffalo tbh.
If I had to make a trade for Malkin, I would give up: 1st round pick/Vanek/(Weber/Regehr/Roy/LeinoHAHAHAHHA/)
Would The Penguins go for that? I don't know. 1st round and Vanek is a must. I don't know what 3rd player Pittsburgh would want if they couldn't have Myers or Erhoff.
Vanek is 28...
Buffalo also has some damn good prospects that Pittsburgh might want.
Not like a Robocrosby would be any different from the current one.
Can robotics properly mimic a dive nowadays?
UFAs I'd like: Parise, Suter, Doan, Burish
UFAs the Caps will get and WAAAY overpay: A.Kostitsyn, Boyes, Olli Jokinen
I do know: No. The Pens would have, 110% sure, NO interest in Roy or Leino and, as disappointing as our blueline was come playoffs, Mike Weber and Robyn Regher are not the answer. We'd want franchise-potential D-men, like Fowler, Eric Johnson, Ekman-Larsson, etc. Not some D3-6 guy who only sees top pairing time when the D-core is rocked with injuries or he tremendously compliments a much more talented offensive-minded defenseman like Scuderi with Doughty. Now I'd be interested in hearing about your prospects, cause I don't know what Buffalo has, but out of the listed players, theres nothing the Pens could work with if Meyers wasn't on the table.
Also 28 is 30ish, just on the low end. Seems like hes been in the league less than I got the impression of.
Olli Jokinen on the Caps would be a tremendously fun turn of events. LOL
2009 called. It wants it's material back. Not like a Robocrosby would be any different from the current one.

It would take a gross overpayment for the Pens to send Malkin to an Eastern Conference team. Buffalo has some decent prospects and a move that included Enroth would have made sense before the Vokoun signing. The problem with Buffalo is it's pretty much a team full of underachievers. The Pens wouldn't be satisfied getting that in return for an MVP/scoring champion. Myers is the only player I would have any interest in at all. The amount of salary the Pens would take on getting half of Buffalo's roster wouldn't be worth it in the long run.
