Sigh
Sigh
This is depressing.
at least they are making it clear it's in the big house next outdoor game. This was going to be a huge boost to Michigan and sadly it's not going to happen this year, maybe next.
That's it, moving to a new sport:
Spoiler: show
might be the closest thing you'll get to hockey this yea if ya dont make your way to a non NHL game.
along with the hit's and fights.
So many sighs and so many outbursts of anger. Fucking yes I'm mad, never seen a league so happy to blow up its season just to prove a point. The NHL has two months before the Winter Classic...you're telling me that you have to cancel it today, instead of trying to solve this in the next two months and try to at least start the season with the WC? Fuck off Bettman and the NHL.
I hope the NHL folds or merges with the KHL to become the ICHL or something. Fuck these SUCCESSFUL HOMOSEXUAL-AMERICANS running shit right now.
Technically today was the deadline for the Winter Classic because of how payment for the field was going to be. Was in payments on Nov 2, Dec 7, Dec 28 and a final one on Jan 18.
Why they couldn't just bump back the payments is beyond me. But whatever, today was supposed to be the initial deposit of $250,000 for the game, and since there's no season at the moment, why pay for a rental of a field for a game that might not happen? At least I assume that's their reasoning. I highly doubt 250k is a big deal to the league. That'd be like asking Bill Gates for a quarter to make a phone call.
As per TSN's article (I also fail at doing the quote thing from another site, so I'll just use quotations)
"One of the NHL's cornerstone events over the last few years is off the regular season schedule, as the league will announce the cancellation of this season's Winter Classic this afternoon.
The move has been speculated for some time, as the league's payment plan for use of The Big House at the University of Michigan calls for $250,000 to be paid to the school on Nov. 2. The rest of the payment schedule was to have $1 million paid on Dec. 7 and on Dec. 28 and $650,000 on Jan. 18. "
Full article, though there's not much more to it.

It's starting to get hard to care about.
LOCKOUT INTO NOVEMBER
SETTLING FOR OVIE/BACKSTROM IN KHL
NO WINTER CLASSIC
NO 24/7
Im not buying NHL13 cuz i dont want to support the product
How do contracts and legal agreements work in Canada? Is Edmonton located in the Province of DoWhateverTheFuckYouWantsVille? Payment was due on X day. Payment needs to be given on X day unless the clause is invoked to opt out before the pre-determined deadline. The end.
Its also to reserve the stadium for that time. Not really sure what else theyd do there in the middle of winter...but its still a reservation deposit.
They still could have negotiated to push it back regardless.
Sounds like Steve Fehr and Daly are going to meet in an undisclosed location tomorrow for bargaining.
I think this is a good sign. The fact the past week or so has been quiet until today and then this.. People involved in labor negotiations and experts in the media alike have all claimed that negotiations won't be serious until they're being done in private and not pandering to the media for PR. This is a start of that IMO.
