So no.
So no.
Amazing how much detail is seemingly put into even the most modest scene.
DVD/BD out Tuesday
Getting the Gypsy Danger statue version
Finally watched this thanks to yify.
Was a fun movie, really good, lots of actors in it, need more of it.
Felt the same. As a mech lover it was just a giant orgasmic of a ride of entertainment. Had a blast watching it. This movie gave me hope that a Hollywood live-action Gundam movie can definitely be done with good results, with a good production team of course.
Picked up the collector's edition. Interesting way to do it though.
All we can do is hope the blu-ray sells well. It really did poorly in theaters and that makes me so sad. I loved it.
Can't a guy dream? To be fair, my hope is if for whatever reason, no matter how dismal of a chance it is, it does get green lit for a Hollywood production, the results from what I saw of Pacific Rim showed me it can be done.
Too bad you had to remind that. Jeez.
Edit: Took a quick skim through the Wiki and the movie did pretty well in the box office. $407m on a $190m budget. Not bad I say. Also helps that del Toro is dicussing a potential sequel.
Re: potential sequel, has some spoilers for the first movie for those that haven't seen it yet.
Spoiler: show
Yea I was about to say...the movie didn't do poorly >_> it more then doubled it's investment.
domestic box office numbers were shitty
Americans are pretty dumb?
Unless a film makes double it's budget solely in one area (US Domestic or Foreign), suits generally consider it a failure.
It's stupid, but that's how the bankroll thinks.
Still stand by the ad campaign being pretty shitty, which probably didn't help domestic viewing.
In this digital age of modern cinema, does international box office results mean anything? Especially now that China has emerged as one of the best place to release movies.
To a degree, it depends on the studio/distributor. There are some that can work with films that have shitty domestic but good foreign box office (see Resident Evil).
But foreign box office is often held to lesser regarded because distributors can't get as prime a cut of the receipts as they do with domestic.
Also, if you check just a few pages back in this thread for a link I posted, you can see China isn't even paying out what it's supposed to with any reliability.
Ah, found the link. I see. Well, that sucks.
This getting beaten by Grown Up's 2 still pisses me off. You got a generic comedy and then you got something DIFFERENT in theaters. Yeah robots vs giant monsters, don't try to ignore it cause "it's for muh 13 years and power ranger kids" mentality of people.
Picked up the BluRay today and I enjoyed it as much as I did in the theater, if not more. Left the credits running (friends always want to leave immediately) and was pleasantly surprised at the last scene.
So going to watch it again tomorrow.
