Honestly they'd be ridiculously stupid if they took it off the platform. The long term return on investment will be huge for them.

The netcode for the Dark Souls games was found to be even more of a gaping security hole then previously realized, and from what is known about Elden Ring the same issue with exist there unless fixed.

I think it's absolutely them trying to lock up one big multiplatform shooter to try to make sure Microsoft won't pull COD down the line, mutually assured destruction for micro transactions.
