SE Trademarks Deus Ex Universe, Hitman Sniper, & Hitman Go
    http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpr...09/image63.png
Deus Ex is one of Square Enix’s key franchises after the success of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The universe expanded with Deus Ex: The Fall, which focuses on a different protagonist, Ben Saxon, and takes place after the Icarus Effect novel.

Square Enix surely has more plans for Deus Ex and registered a trademark for Deus Ex Universe in Europe. Square Enix Europe also filed trademarks for Hitman Sniper and Hitman Go. Perhaps, one of those Hitman trademarks is for Square Enix Montreal’s game? The studio opened in 2012 and their first game was announced to be a Hitman title.

not going to make a thread for it just yet since it's just a teaser but: http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/09/...-to-persona-5/
Atlus just opened a new teaser website pointing to the November the 24, 2013 date, but what is the site about exactly?

The website includes the recently trademarked P-Studio logo, but the clincher is, as usual, in the source html code of the page:
    http://cdn.dualshockers.com/wp-conte...rsonaCode2.jpg
The first Keyword, in Japanese, says “Persona” (the second is “Atlus”). That’s pretty much undeniable evidence that the site is related to the Persona franchise. The description says “On November the 24, 2013 something will happen…”

Still need more evidence? If you hit the Twitter button at the top, it will automatically add the #ペルソナhashtag. Recognize that wording in Katakana? Yeah, it still says “Persona.”

So what Persona game are we talking about? A most probable hint can be found in the color of the site itself. Since Persona 3 the promotional material and websites of numbered Persona games have been associated with one particular color, so much that even graphical assets and characters were repainted to reflect that color.

As you can see in the screencaps below Persona 3 was associated with blue. Persona 4 is associated with yellow. What’s the next RGB color? Red. Very conveniently the teaser website is fully red, most possible hinting to the fact that the site is indeed teasing Persona 5.

Ubisoft Montreal expands, adds 500 jobs
    http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/...66-ubisoft.jpg
Today, Ubisoft is announcing the concentration of American operations for online games and of infrastructures for its global network in Montreal. In addition, the company will be investing in the expansion of its motion capture technologies expertise. This important technological and operational consolidation represents a total investment of 373 M$ over 7 years, and is expected to generate 500 new jobs in Quebec over the same period. By 2020, Ubisoft should provide employment for more than 3,500 professionals within its Quebec studios.

"The imminent arrival of the next generation of consoles, the expansion of mobile platforms, the multiplication of connected, immersive, and social environments, and the strategic importance of the relationship between developers and players are profoundly transforming the video game industry", Ubisoft Co-Founder and CEO Yves Guillemot indicated. "Today's announcement allows us to anticipate the growth of our future needs with the main objective of strengthening proximity with our players and creating value for them."

"The expertise found at Ubisoft's Quebec studios is at the heart of the group's growth and success for over 16 years. To this established and recognized know-how, we add new needs in terms of infrastructures and online operations, in anticipation of the new experiences players expect" Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto CEO Yannis Mallat adds. "Today, we are demonstrating once more our commitment to creativity, to technological expertise in Quebec, as well as our promise to pursue wealth creation here", Mr. Mallat concluded.

The 500 new jobs cover a wide range of new skills essential to the development, the production, and the operations of a new generation of video games. To the industry's "traditional" trades, new profiles come into play, including community and network management specialists, business intelligence analysts, mathematicians, telemetry experts, systems operators, and monetization and interactive marketing specialists.

This important project is made possible owing to the Quebec Government's vision and support, which has announced a non-refundable 9.9 M$ financial contribution and adjustments to the Tax Credit for Multimedia Titles, giving eligibility to new trades now essential to operating this new generation of experiences.

"We firmly believe in the importance of creative industries for our economy and are pleased to have been supporting Ubisoft since their arrival in Quebec, in 1997. Their growth and concrete economic benefits for the Quebec nation are true sources of pride. The project announced today, bringing about important job creation, allows us to foresee success in the future" Quebec Premier Pauline Marois indicated.
Compile Heart owner, Idea Factory, opens a new studio in California

Idea Factory has been releasing its games—such as the Hyperdimension Neptunia, Record of Agarest War, and Hakuoki series—in western territories through third-party publishers. With the volume of content the company wishes to make available globally increasing—including “video games, animation, and social apps”—Idea Factory International intends to focus on “providing general and overall information regarding Idea Factory properties to North American and European fans.”

Former NIS America president Harusato Akenaga will lead the new company as CEO.

Could it be happening!? All it took was a government shutdown to convince Valve to take what looks to be the next step towards Half-Life 3. As spotted by NeoGAF, Valve has registered Half-Life 3 with Europe's trademarks office, the OHIM.

Upon visiting the actual European trademark office website and looking up the trademark (#012180394), you can clearly see it's legit. Valve apparently registered for the trademark on September 29, 2013, and it's currently listed as "Computer game software; Electronic game software; Downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices; Video game software."

While the trademark appears to be official, Valve's actual motivation remains in question. Is Valve actually taking the next step in developing Half-Life 3 or are they merely trying to protect their IP?

Things certainly just got a whole lot more interesting!

The Future Vision for Deus Ex
    Posted by David Anfossi

As promised, I'm back to share more news about our Eidos-Montreal studio and what the teams are working on here. We currently have several games in development including the upcoming Thief, but today I will focus on two particular announcements both relating to the future of Deus Ex.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a critical and commercial success, and from this game an amazing franchise has been revived. We are fully committed to Deus Ex here at Eidos-Montreal, we’ve already learnt so much and we have many new ideas for the future that we are actively working to develop.

So first up, I am delighted to announce that we have confirmed a ship date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut. We will be releasing the game on October 22 (25 in PAL regions) on the Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Over the last 18 months, the team has been working very hard on the development of the Director’s Cut. With this edition, we gave the team the envious task of pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity to explore something we believe will become a big part of the future of the franchise, the second screen experience. When the game launches, players will have the opportunity to experience Human Revolution in a new and unique way through SmartGlass, the PSVita and the Wii U GamePad. I look forward to hearing your feedback on the Deus Ex forums.

And we are taking things further.

I’m really excited to let you know that we are working on an ambitious idea which we’re calling
    http://cdn.eidosinteractive.com/mtl/...verse_logo.png
The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games. It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before. Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc... You might have seen the name pop up recently in the press – well this is what it’s all about.

I’m pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We’re very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game. It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise.

I want to leave you with a piece of concept art from our next-gen Deus Ex game that shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex. It represents a "ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex.
    http://cdn.eidosinteractive.com/mtl/...golemsmall.jpg
For now, I hope you are excited about the future of this game that we love so much. Deus Ex is coming to next-gen, it’s early so don’t expect to hear much more from us just yet, but I wanted you to know.

I'm very excited as a developer and gamer!

Bad Company 3 will happen, but Mirror's Edge 2 & Star Wars: Battlefront come first
The Bad Company series will return, and with it the “creative freedom” DICE have repressed for their po-faced numerical Battlefield sequels. But not until Mirror’s Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront are out of the way.

“My feeling is that I would love to do it,” said DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson of a third Bad Company.

“For me, when we started the company with 1942, it was really a work of passion,” he told reporters at a recent Battlefield event. “And then we worked our way through the era of different wars, and I loved them all, like my little babies. When it came to Bad Company, it was creative freedom; don't take yourself too seriously.”

DICE are now a multi-project studio with new staff in LA, but all hands are currently filled by either the Battlefield 4 beta or one of the two games unveiled at E3 this year - Mirror’s Edge 2 and Battlefront.

“But trust me,” reassured Gustavsson, “the Bad Company [team] isn't forgotten, they are just on a very long vacation. So they are out there, they're coming back.”

That’s the fictional team, for clarity, not the developers of Bad Company - it seems sensible to assume they’ve been working full time on other projects since 2010, when the last game in the sub-series was released. Although it’s worth noting that Bad Company lead writer David Goldfarb is now employed at Overkill, where he led development on the excellent but buggy Payday 2.

A Bad Company TV series was ordered into being last year, so EA evidently see some worth in the old name.

EA’s Frank Gibeau said in August that the publisher plans to rotate between three shooters in the coming years: Battlefield, Titanfall and Battlefront. Sounds exhausting - but that should give DICE a modicum of breathing room between iterations.

Sometimes, leaks happen where you just don’t expect them. Cliff Martinez, the composer behind the memorable soundtrack for Drive, has seemingly let slip his involvement in the yet-to-be-confirmed Far Cry 4, thanks to an interview that had nothing to do with game. Really, there’s been no talk of a fourth jungle adventure at all, so this revelation is coming out of the blue.

Martinez was caught discussing his composing role in the game during an interview with Lost in the Multiplex, which has since been updated to remove any mention of Ubisoft’s next big open-world shooter. However, someone was nice enough to take a screenshot of the original text before it was too late, so you can take a gander at the information for yourself if you don’t believe us.
    http://www.gameranx.com/img/13-Oct/far-cry-4.jpg
The expulsion of the game’s name from the interview seems more damning than anything else, as it’s highly likely that Ubisoft asked the website to not make mention of something it’s not ready to announce. Even if there were big narrative issues in Far Cry 3, the game sold well and was just fun to play. A new game on next-generation technology? It’s difficult to not get excited for what’s to come from this reinvigorated franchise.

Even after the lackluster reviews and sales, they're going ahead with a sequel instead of a reboot. I hope that means they're learning from their mistakes...

    The Amazing Spider-Man 2

    (PC/PS4/XB1/PS3/360/WiiU/3DS)
Activision and Marvel Entertainment today revealed The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is planned to launch next spring, alongside the Sony Pictures Entertainment feature film of the same name. Developed by Beenox, the same game studio behind 2012's original hit The Amazing Spider-Man, this all-new third-person action-adventure video game builds on the story of the previous game with an alternative take on the events of the upcoming movie, while also giving players an enhanced, free-roaming web-slinging experience through a greatly expanded New York City.

"The first The Amazing Spider-Man game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore — a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies," said Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head of Beenox. "And the overwhelming message from fans was: 'MORE!' That's what our team is working toward with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 — we're giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won't want to miss playing it."

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, players once again assume the role of the iconic Super Hero in a unique side-story inspired by the feature film but set in its own continuity. Throughout his journey, Spider-Man will encounter a number of new foes as well as some old friends, as he confronts a new threat to his beloved city. The narrative will give Peter Parker, Spider-Man's nerdy photojournalist persona, a greater role in the spotlight, as he investigates the complicated motivations and unique personalities behind the menagerie of Marvel menaces threatening Manhattan.

As Spidey, players will be able to free-roam through a greatly-enhanced Manhattan cityscape, one set to offer livelier, more engaging opportunities with which to put his sensational skills to use. Central to the expansive depth and detail being poured into The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is the new "Hero or Menace" system, which incentivizes Super Hero behavior by rewarding the web-slinger's crime-fighting efforts, and adds consequences for letting criminality fester. Spider-Man's personal brand of web-swinging and up-close-and-personal combat will see a variety of new features as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is planned to launch alongside the feature film next spring for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS and Windows PC.
