probably a more accurate representation of things.Subscribers double because of the legacy campaign
not to be the downer, but half of almost nothing is still almost nothing.
Yes, Im still angry that ranger was named bard, I dont think Ill ever get over that.
can someone in the know tell me if normal archer is comparable to "bard"
Not really sure what you're asking about, but...
[Job] vs [Class] share almost all the same actions. Archer vs Bard is no exception, so they are effectively the same. Bard can sing songs and has a couple exclusive weaponskills; Archer can equip more cross-class abilities. Stat-wise, the difference is probably 10 points of a couple of stats, which isn't much.
I think a good majority of XI bards would have been much happier if they had some real combat utility outside of just singing songs, so I fail to see how ARC > BRD is a bad thing. If you want to shoot arrows and nothing more, then go about your merry way on ARC.
Edit: Like LD says in the next post. They're not locking 1 class to 1 job, so Ranger may come along in the future, though I fail to see the real difference between an "Archer" and a "Ranger", unless you're going the WoW route and expecting a pet. Personally I'd like to see "Trapper" and not "Ranger", but what's in a name?
Sonomaa, they didn't name Ranger Bard. Bard is merely the first Job to come out of Archer. They may eventually make another Job to come out of archer that is actually a ranger.
Bard is actually a Bard.
With a bow. And arrows.
lol, what the hell
*When Ranger eventually is tied to ARC*
"We need you on BRD"
"Hey, want to come on BRD?"
"RNG does a lot of DD but DD spots are full, come BRD"
"Anyone have BRD here?"
"LFM(insert instance/nm name) NEED BRD!"
You're just going to have to pretend you haven't done any BRD quests beyond the first (since people can see what classes you have unlocked).
kinda true, but since songs don't stack it's not THAT bad compared to ffxi. Once you have one person brd the rest can go rng if they are geared for it.
( I have to admit I love that they did it though as rng and brd are usually my two favorite classes in any mmo. I still <3 you sono though!)
I'd just run around in my Osode on brd and tell people to suck it if they didn't like it.
I was salty as shit that Drg couldn't use it, yet a fucking fairy brd could. Goddamn you SE.
naming a damage dealing class after a reviled class was my problem with it. I know some of you might have liked bard, some might have loved it, but for a lot of people it was the class they had to play, not the class they wanted to play. Thats my problem with it.
1~2 songs every 3 minutes isn't so bad compared to FFXI, but yeah I see where you're coming from.
There's a piss-poor selection of songs (four total? - one only used for out of combat movement speed+), so the job as a whole is boring for those that enjoyed bard.
You act like BRD in XIV is anything remotely like BRD in XI.
You sing a 3 second cast time song once every 3 mins, 2 if you're feeling fancy.
The other 95% of the time you're a DD.
Bard brings a lot to the party. Not only in its song and subclass support, but in its freedom to move while "doing its job" just like in XI. The upside is you are a real dps in XIV and not just a pulling/buff bitch like in XI. I know a lot of people that LOVED ranger in XI and LOVED archer in XIV and when they heard BRD was going to be its first job, they gawked at it. Now many of those same people enjoy the dynamic design of BRD. It's hard to see past its ability list when you aren't in there playing, but if you watch some stuff on youtube from BRD perspective, you'll see just how great the job really is. It is just an all-around masterful job with one of the higher learning curves imo. Totally the opposite of WAR.
And the swiftsong spell isn't even a bard song, you can use it on Archer. Jobs are 'specs' and right now each class only has one spec, hopefully Ranger job comes out in the future and it becomes mainly a DD. Furthermore unlike FFXI where Bard was a support/puller first, this version of bard is more like Corsair, has access to some support and occasionally casts song, but you better be doing damage while partying.
