It does. Got tired of targetting mining points and bombards disappearing, so /firedance+alt tab for me.

I don't envy whoever tries to do this event 10 days from now, because I doubt the amount of bombards that spawn scales with the number of people present. SE wouldn't do smart things like that.

Please forgive my ignorance, as I have not played in forever.

Will the gear obtained in this be unavailable to obtain later on down the road? I'm a sucker for 1-time event gear

I like to afk in it several years down the road and make myself feel like a true veteran. i.e. santa hats, and pumpkin hats in XI.

1-time event gear, at least for a few years. Based off of XI, I think we were all expecting them to make the event gear from years past available one way or another, but since they didn't bring back the swimsuits this year despite them being in high demand, it looks like it'll be a 1-time event unless they change their minds down the road.

The most-applicable quote I could find was a Reinheart-translated one regarding the swimsuits:

I hate this event so much. Can't target Bombards fast enough in Ul'dah, not enough people in Gridania so we lose balloons. Haven't tried Limsa yet but

fwiw if you lose one balloon you get 10 ash instead of 20, so god only knows if you lose more

I checked it out early this morning and there were so many people in Gridania that it was difficult to target, but I still managed to get a win before heading to work. There were also a -lot- of bombs to kill (normal Bombards are 1-shot kills I think, while King Bombards seem to take 4 hits). I can't imagine doing it with only a handful of people... I guess sticking it out in Ul'dah is going to be the only way now that participation is dwindling fast (because of how easy it is to finish).

I stood outside of the main group around where the bombs would spawn. That worked pretty well for me.
