This thread made me feel good, glad to see that people care about each other, even through the series of tubes we know as the internet.
Bike thefts have been up around here lately. I have gotten a lot of calls at work for them, on both sides of the bay. Most of them don't want to call the cops but they call us (we're a private security agency) like we're really able to do anything about it.
Grats on the new bike CS, and follow the advice about the pictures, that's good shit. Where you go to school anyway, SPC? I am looking to go there, probably next semester.
Offer for the lock still stands if you decide to pick something out.
Make sure you get a U-Lock this time, and a good one. Chain locks and virtually everything else are worthless.
Mind helping me pick one out? 90% of the places I go have no bike rack, so usually have to lock to something like a tree, flag pole, etc.
I'll have to consult with Kohan for a good lock and then I can get back with you. Thanks broseph
Yea, I'm at SPC. I'm on the Gibbs and Clearwater campuses
Lol, I won't say no to free monies, but not going to try and deceive ppl either by saying I didn't have enough for the byke when I did. If you want to throw that in there, then by all means!
Abus has pretty good bike locks. Expensive, but it's kept my commuting bike safely at the train station for about a year now. Shitty spiral lock on my previous bike there lasted about six weeks.
That site I linked had some good recommendations for locks. Ideally you want two. a U lock to lock the rear wheel and frame (ideally to something) and then a cable lock (with built in lock- not a padlock) to lock the front wheel and frame to something, the cable being easier to latch to stuff. The tools to break one won't work against the other. It also shows you how to properly use a U lock.
Had no luck finding locks, just the how to lock it up section. Found accessories and tools but neither of which included locks for sale or recommended ones
