I've heard of methods to label/title a youtube video that describe the movie literally to avoid copyright bots but I never thought the pauses would do the trick!

Resizing is another method. You can see it in Linkara's Power Ranger review videos, he shrinks video slightly and adds links to his website in the empty space so bots don't pick it up for Copyright.

Wow... I guess I underestimate the bots these days. I thought it's all about sounds/wavelengths but this is a whole new level.

I did check out the video(s) you mentioned, but only managed 2 but I don't see the method you're talking about. If you have a sample I would be interested to take a look. At work currently so I can't keep browsing (opening office).

the best way to avoid the copyright bots is resizing slightly, links, pauses, and adjusting the speed down to like 90-95%. it tweaks the tone just enough. Thats how the original deadpool test footage avoided stuff for so long, they sped it up just enough that it went from a 2 minute trailer to a 1 minute 30ish second one and dodged all the takedowns

people who do nintendo streams are going to have to start doing that now, since nintendo is literally being the biggest assholes in the world at this point

I could see Mario Maker actually becoming a copyright case. Simply because its the biggest example of transformative work.
