if you live in a place unlikely to get snow/severe wind and a decent neighborhood, i'd suggest just parking in the driveway and maybe getting an awning. basically just a big tent designed for just such a purpose. we used to have one in our driveway for extra storage, but a couple years ago we got a huge snowstorm and it collapsed under all the weight.

edit: if you've got a wind-break and don't have to worry too much about snow or theft, it could be a nice, relatively cheap solution.

The problem with buying an awning is that at some point, very soon, his brain will force him to confront the reality of parking his brand new $70,000 car outside under an awning.

Unfortunately, it's not even an option.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8-10090907.jpg

My driveway is steep as shit and about 5 feet long. There's no feasible alternate option. I could solve the width by totally redoing my garage and putting a single double-wide door on, but that would take significant structural work, and still wouldn't solve the depth hair-splitting. It is what it is.

merge the garage two doors using a strong head beam, and add some length to the garage. Idk if you have to apply for approval for that though.

Shouldn't have to as long as he isn't messing with the structure integrity.

At the beginning of the week it was $3.89, yesterday it capped off at $4.39. Thanks Chicago!

Minnesota is the highest in the nation right now.

Another day, another infamous No. 1 ranking as Minnesota still has the highest gas prices in the nation, according to GasBuddy.com.

The Twin Cities is averaging $4.34 per gallon, while Chicago’s averaging $4.30. Honolulu is third with $4.26.

Earlier this week Sen. Amy Klobuchar called on the Department of Energy to take action.

“This spike in gas prices is hurting families, businesses and farmers across Minnesota and disrupting commerce,” Klobuchar had said. “Scheduled maintenance at refineries should not be allowed to cause such major disruptions in supply. That’s why I have called on the Department of Energy to thoroughly review the closures and the timing of maintenance operations and take action to prevent future supply problems that cause consumers pain at the pump.”

    http://gasbuddy.com/GB_Price_List.aspx

    And why..

The reason for this crazy price hike?

Two large refineries in the Chicago area — one owned by BP, the other owned by Exxon Mobil — have shut down for an extended period of time for maintenance, Weinholzer said.

“It’s not unusual for refineries to close for a week or so for maintenance but when I say ‘extended,’ one of these facilities has been closed since the middle of April and neither of them will restart before Memorial Day,” she said.

That means the supply has been severely constricted and subsequently, prices have shot up.

For those of you that typically try to wait it out and refill when the price drops again, you may be waiting longer than you’d like.

Weinholzer said we will not see any relief in prices at the pump before mid-June and there’s a chance we won’t see any significant relief before the Fourth of July.

“This is affecting the entire upper Midwest, from North Dakota to Michigan,” she said.

Rumors that the gas spike has something to do with the upcoming Memorial Day weekend — and big traveling weekend at that — are false, Weinholzer said.

“That is absolutely not the case,” she said. “There’s a significant portion of the country paying significantly less for gas than we are.”

Weinholzer said their website, fuelgaugereport.com shows a graphic where motorists can see this rise in gas prices is only hitting the Midwest region.

I filled up last week at 3.29, still cost me $150 lol.

Best part is I'll get roughly 500 miles.

I really need to get my little ranger running well again or just get a new gas saver, driving the burban all the time is not good on the wallet.

    PS. 1 L = 0.26 Gallon, so gas here is about 5-6$/Gallon
